Won’t you be my neighbor… or co-host?
After greeting viewers on Thursday’s Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa took a moment to praise Mark Consuelos‘ sweater, which eventually reminded her of a children’s TV icon.
“I love this sweater on you,” she gushed about the butter yellow cardigan with buttons. “You look amazing.”
Consuelos shouted out his stylist, Esther, for his outfit, before revealing where the sweater is from.
“Do you know where it’s from? Zara,” he shared, making sure to roll the “r” in the Spanish retailer’s name. “I trill the ‘r.’ It makes it fancier.”
Ripa proceeded to pet her husband and co-host’s sleeve. As she continued complimenting the “butter cashmere” sweater, she couldn’t help but think of Fred Rogers, the star of the popular children’s show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, who would start each episode by changing into a cardigan sweater and sneakers as he sang the show’s iconic theme song.
“I want to watch you come home and watch you take off your outside shoes, and put on your sneakers, and sing, like, ‘Could you be mine? Would you be mine? Won’t you be my neighbor?'” Ripa teased.
Consuelos agreed, “It’s giving Mr. Rogers a little bit.”

Ripa added, “You’re like sexy Mr. Rogers.”
However, Consuelos had one point of correction for Ripa, as he rolled his r’s while pronouncing “Mr. Rogers” in an accent.
