IRVINE, Calif. — U.S. Soccer CEO J.T. Batson wasn’t kidding when he said last month he’s talked with Mauricio Pochettino about a contract extension.
The U.S. Soccer Federation has presented Pochettino with an extension through the 2030 World Cup cycle, according to The Athletic’s Adam Crafton, though any final decisions will be made after this summer’s competition concludes.
The proposal was reportedly made before the World Cup, where Pochettino’s side topped Group D to earn a spot in the Round of 32 against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Pochettino has consistently framed his commitment to the national team as being through the 2026 World Cup, while making little secret of his desire to return to the English Premier League.
