The Yankees are moving more aggressively/urgently/(choose your adverb) than they have in recent years with roster decisions, showing shorter leashes for underperforming players.
They also have much better depth — both in the majors and waiting at Triple-A — than they have in recent years, allowing those roster moves to happen.
Exhibit A: Optioning Anthony Volpe to Triple-A earlier this week once his rehab assignment expired, riding the hot hand in José Caballero as their starting shortstop as long as they can while sending their former first-round pick to the minors.
