The ladies of The View shared a laugh during Friday’s (May 8) broadcast after a clip of First Lady Melania Trump praising President Trump’s went viral.
The first lady was speaking alongside her husband at a Mother’s Day event at the White House when she told attendees, “Most know my husband as the strong commander-in-chief, but his empathy transcends the role and shapes a caring leader who constantly remembers each and every American soldier is someone’s child.”
A clip from her speech went viral after viewers noticed how much the crowd laughed at her praising President Trump’s “empathy.”
On The View, Joy Behar had a healthy laugh about the comment, as well.
“I know him from way back,” she pointed out, sharing she attended one of his weddings and they have multiple photos together. “He was a normal guy but the body snatchers got to him, just like they got to Marco Rubio and J.D. Vance.”
But Sunny Hostin took aim at the first lady for standing by President Trump.
“He may be a different person. I don’t think Melania is a different person,” she stated.
Hostin pointed out that Melania was “pushing that birtherism” rumor about former President Barack Obama.

Hostin also pointed out Melania ran an anti-cyberbullying campaign at one point.
“Do you remember her Be Best campaign?” she asked her co-hosts. “She lives in an alternate reality. She had this whole platform during his first administration about anti-cyberbullying and her husband is the biggest cyberbully on the internet.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
