Earth Wind and Fire will groove at arenas and multiplexes this summer.
In addition to their nationwide co-headlining ‘Sing A Song All Night Long Tour’ with Lionel Richie, the Rock Hall of Famers are the subject of Questlove’s new documentary “Earth,Wind & Fire: (To Be Celestial vs That’s the Weight of the World),” which premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday, June 3.
The doc, which drops on HBO on June 7, traces the legendary group’s origins to their ’70s highs all the way to today with insights from group members Philip Bailey, Verdine White, and Ralph Johnson along with contemporaries like Richie as well as Stevie Wonder and high-profile fans Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.
“This is a band [that’s] so ubiquitous, but we don’t know about them personally.” Questlove told Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show,” on a night where he sat on the guest couch instead of with the band. “I didn’t know that for the first maybe two or three years, it was a struggle.”
Shortly after soaking in the glory from the release of the documentary, the tireless road vets will return to the stage for concerts from June through October.

Both acts have been active since the late ’60s making the 2020s their seventh (!) decade in music.
Most recently, Richie re-released his 2000 record “Renaissance” expanding his sixth studio album from 12 to 35 tracks.
As for Earth Wind and Fire, they put out the danceable single “You Want My Love” with Lucky Daye in 2021. The single hit Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Top 10 — their first time charting in 28 years.
Although EWF has run into tragedy over the past few years, a few original members along with newer bandmates keep the group’s historic legacy alive.
