'Euphoria' creator Sam Levinson gives conflicting answers...

Warning: Spoilers ahead! Do not proceed unless you’ve watched “Euphoria” Season 3 episode 8.

“Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson gave conflicting answers about the HBO show’s future after Sunday’s Season 3 finale.

In an interview with Esquire, Levinson didn’t rule out the possibility of a Season 4.

“I mean, I don’t know. I’ve approached every season like it’s the last season. If they say, ‘That’s it, Sam, pack your bags. We don’t need another,’” the 41-year-old TV producer told the outlet.

“I do approach it that way, at least for my own kind of sanity,” he added. “I don’t want to feel like I left anything on the field.”

But during his appearance on the New York Times’ “Popcast” podcast, Levinson claimed Season 3 is the show’s last.

“In terms of the story that we set out to tell, which is the story about addiction and its consequences, this feels like the end to me,” he stated.

“It was such a fulfilling journey in terms of this cast, the crew, what we were able to accomplish,” Levinson continued. “There are thousands of things that have to go right in order to make something like this, and I’m immensely of the work we did and the story we told.”

But Levinson told the New York Times the show is ending after Season 3 (Sydney Sweeney is pictured above in the series). HBO

Levinson admitted that while the Season 3 finale — which saw Zendaya’s Rue Bennett accidentally overdose — ended on a “tragic” note, her fate was also true to real life.

“If you are experimenting or taking drugs today, it’s very possible it’ll kill you,” he said, noting Rue’s death was also “a way of honoring” late star Angus Cloud, who died of an accidental overdose in July 2025 at age 25.

When one of the hosts asked Levinson, “So that’s it? ‘Euphoria ends here with Rue?,” he replied, “Yeah. I mean, what else is there to say?”

HBO confirmed to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter that the show is over after three seasons.

Page Six reached out to the network for comment.

“Euphoria” Season 3 sparked backlash even before the finale for killing off Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi) and Cassie Howard’s (Sydney Sweeney) controversial OnlyFans storyline.

In the finale, Rue died after she took laced pills given to her by Alamo Brown, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Fans were upset over Rue’s overdose, but Levinson defended the decision to kill Zendaya’s character and said her death was the “most honest ending” for the show in a post-finale HBO interview.

He also noted that “other people like Rue,” who struggled with addiction during all three seasons, “don’t make it.”
