Pep Guardiola set to leave Manchester City after highly d...

Pep Guardiola is expected to step away from his role as manager of Premier League side Manchester City at the end of the current season.

Multiple reports on Monday indicated that the 55-year-old manager would be leaving Man City after 10 years at the helm and a stint with the club that has seen him rack up one of the most successful tenures in Premier League history.

Guardiola helped the club capture the Carabao Cup, as well as the FA Cup this past weekend with a win over Chelsea, marking the 20th major trophy City has won during his 10-year run at Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City won six league titles under Guardiola and they are in the middle of a race for another Premier League title with two matches left on their schedule.

City will need to beat Bournemouth on Tuesday to keep their title hopes alive, otherwise Arsenal will have all but locked up the trophy after defeating Burnley on Monday.

Manchester City has remained mum about Guardiola’s future despite the rumors persisting, with the club likely trying to minimize the distraction during the title race.

And Guardiola himself has avoided going too deep on the subject.

He quickly moved on from questions about his future ahead of the FA Cup final on Saturday, telling reporters he has “one more year of contract,” and he seemingly played dumb while speaking with TNT Sports following the game when his future with Man City was broached.

Guardiola is under contract with Man City through 2027 and ESPN reported that he has a break clause in his contract that would allow him to walk away after this season.

As for who will take the legendary manager’s place, it has been widely reported that Enzo Maresca will be handed the reins.

Maresca had previously served as Chelsea’s manager and left Stamford Bridge in January.

He had previously served as an assistant on Guardiola’s staff.
