SoulCycle is set to close two Southern California studios this weekend as the once-booming boutique fitness brand continues to shrink its footprint years after the pandemic reshaped the industry.

The indoor cycling company is expected to shutter six locations nationwide on Sunday, according to multiple media reports cited by TheStreet.

Among the studios slated to close are the Manhattan Beach-branded location at 820 Pacific Coast Highway in El Segundo and the La Jolla studio at 4303 La Jolla Village Drive in San Diego.

The California closures are part of a broader round of shutdowns affecting locations in Colorado, New York and Florida, underscoring the ongoing challenges facing a company that was once synonymous with the boutique fitness boom.

Reports indicated that employees at several affected locations had already been notified.

Founded in New York City in 2006, SoulCycle built a devoted following through its instructor-led, music-driven cycling classes and eventually expanded to more than 60 studios across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.

But like many fitness operators, the company struggled after the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the shift toward at-home workouts and digital fitness platforms.

SoulCycle responded by closing roughly 20 studios in 2022 as part of a larger restructuring effort.

The latest closures arrive during another period of transition for the company.

Earlier this month, CEO Evelyn Webster announced she would step down after nearly six years to become chief executive of podcast company Audiochuck, according to TheStreet.
