Kelly Ripa went to bat for a special dog still up for adoption on Live with Kelly and Mark — and clarified that she is to blame for the dog’s on-air accident.
On Monday, updated viewers on the show’s pet adoption segment that took place last week in collaboration with Home For Good Dog Rescue, sharing that all but one of the dogs were adopted.
“All of the dogs got adopted, except for my favorite. Sangria still needs a new home” she announced.
Ripa explained that Sangria “pooped” on the show, though she teased that the dog’s duty was not an act of disobedience, but actually the opposite.
“But I want you to understand something. This is a very good dog, because I asked Sangria to poop on the floor,” she said. “Because I take special joy when the dogs poop on the show. I just think it’s funny. And I feel like that adversely affected people’s perception.”
Mark Consuelos conceded, “She couldn’t help herself.”
Ripa insisted that Sangria is “a very obedient dog” and is “such a good dog,” proceeding to paint a picture of how the “sweet and lovely” canine could be an asset on a cold, winter walk.
“Imagine this. Imagine you’re going for a walk in the morning, and it’s winter. And you need your dog to poop,” she said. “And you know how they dilly-dally when it’s freezing. They dilly-dally. It’s almost like they freeze up. Imagine having Sangria and you’re like, ‘Go poop.’ And the dog’s like, ‘Yes, I will.'”

As the Live studio audience issued Ripa’s argument a round of applause, Consuelos urged viewers to “please adopt her.”
Ripa added, “Sangria needs a home.”
