The Issue: How low voter turnout influenced Tuesday’s Democratic primaries in New York City.

Barely 17% of Democratic voters citywide — heavily white and under 30 — voted in this primary (“Lefties’ young demographic,” June 25).

Those voters may be college-educated, but they’re poorly informed about history.

New York is not alone in staying home rather than voting. Nationwide, voter turnout is not nearly what it should be. Republicans too have to wake up and get out the vote if they are to have a stronger impact on the upcoming races and national midterms — not to mention the 2028 presidential election.

Jim Forkan

Bayside

It’s pathetic to see such a low overall voter turnout of only 17% citywide. The situation in the state is comical, with the Democratic Socialists of America gaining from it. The state is in chaos exacerbated by the actions of New Yorkers themselves.

The future of New York looks bleak due to the Democrats’ stupidity.

By not participating in the voting process and enabling the rise of radical ideologies, New Yorkers will be losing what little they have left to a select few. As they say, “Dumb kids are happy kids.”

Storm Destro

Bayonne, NJ

Let’s hear it for New York Democrats — what a proud moment for them. They welcomed the DSA with open arms and now it is spreading like a cancer. Great job, guys.

Alan Chieco

Islip

We called these voters the miseducated of America — voting for policies proven to fail both here and internationally, and candidates with empty promises.

The Democratic Party embraced Mayor Mamdani, then he backstabbed it with his own choices of socialist radicals; you reap what you sow.

And this low voter turnout is heartbreaking for all those people who sacrificed their lives to obtain the right to vote.

Greg Raleigh

Washington, DC

The victories of the hateful slate of Mamdani-backed candidates in these primaries is indicative of the political upheaval occurring in blue cities nationwide.

What’s mind-boggling is how people could vote for candidates who despise the social norms generationally embedded into American culture.

There’s nothing American about socialism, which historically has led to the demise of any country that has embraced it.

Denis David

East Rockaway

Not content with the damage that traditional leftist Democrats have already inflicted, the anti-American socialists and communists have now leveled a political and societal gun to the head of all New Yorkers and aim to inflict even more pain and suffering.

The radical Mamdani network purports to be champions of righteousness, but in reality are a hateful cabal that yearn to tear this country apart.

As New York’s very survival is now at stake, it must be saved by those willing to stand against such pestilence.

James McCaffrey

Yonkers

Once again this primary served as a wake-up call to the establishment. Quality of life for the majority is not improving while certain politicians get rich and lose interest in their constituencies.

In this economic climate, along with demographic changes, I see the radical socialist left taking over the city’s politics. The days of Mayors Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg might as well be ancient history.

Nick Gatsoulis

Manhattan

New York City schools have been teaching socialist and anti-Israel propaganda for years. Children become voters and in New York City that means a “revolutionary” ardor based on lies, half-truths and hatred of America.

It’s time to clean out the rot in our educational system and start teaching the truth.

Mel Young

Manhattan

New York is no longer the Big Apple. It is the People’s Republic of New York. A dark cloud has descended over this once beautiful and vibrant city.

Years of Marxist educational indoctrination have created a group of true believers who hate this country and desire to transform the city into a communist dystopia that will serve as a national model. It’s terrifying.

Robert DiNardo

Farmingdale
