The Issue: Poetica Coffee in Brooklyn refunding and banning Rep. Dan Goldman for his stance on Israel.

I read about Rep. Dan Goldman being banned from Poetica Coffee with profound disdain (“Foaming over Israel,” June 23).

Is that how it is in New York now? If you support Israel or Jewish causes, don’t shop here?

New York has become an antisemitic cesspool — with Mayor Mamdani as the chief hate monger.

Poetica would be declared antisemitic by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who with great wisdom declared, “When people criticize Zionists, they mean Jews. You’re talking about antisemitism.”

Discriminating against Jews and emulating Joseph Goebbels in public accommodations may be awesome for the racists at Poetica Coffee, but it violates New York state civil-rights law.

Memo to Parviz Mukhamadkulov, owner of Poetica Coffee in Williamsburg: Your childish online outburst branding Goldman as “a genocide enabler” has convinced me to write a check payable to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, an organization for which you have expressed contempt.

And if I ever do have a chance to visit one of your seven welcoming locations, I’ll be sure to first pin a yellow Star of David on my shirt.

No one was in Dan Goldman’s corner more than I was when the owner of “Poetica Coffee” refunded his money and banned Goldman from his New York City shop simply because Goldman is a supporter of Israel. Then, to my amazement, Goldman took the high road by posting a gracious, non-confrontational reply to the coffee shop owner.

Sadly, Goldman took that opportunity to bash the president, suggesting that the real enemy was the “divisive” President Trump. Initially, I had hoped to reach out to Goldman with a message of support. Now I’d like to tell Goldman, “thanks” for wasting my sympathy, my praise and my time.

What happens when you mix coffee and politics at Poetica Coffee? You get politics!

In this case, the mixture of ignorance and hate produces less than poetry. I wonder what Parviz Mukhamadkulov puts in his “genocide juice” if it’s on the barista’s menu.

The Mamdanistas won at the polls so we will have to expect many more outbursts from New York’s new, “educated” street mob — pitchforks, torches, and slogans notwithstanding.

The latest account of uneducated people accusing Israel of committing genocide is Poetica Coffee, whose owner unabashedly regretted serving Rep. Goldman because he is Jewish and supposedly supports genocide in Gaza.

In an effort to hide their antisemitism, Hollywood elites and Palestinians have redefined “genocide” to include the unintended killing of civilians who happen to be in buildings serving as Hamas’ headquarters.

If Israel intended to destroy an entire population in Gaza, why in the world would it give civilians advance notice to vacate?

Those with anti-Israel views obviously don’t care about the truth.

For centuries, hostility toward Jews has enjoyed a peculiar privilege: It’s experienced by its practitioners not as hatred, but as righteousness.

The antisemite is rarely the villain in his own story. He’s the Spanish inquisitor saving souls, the German schoolteacher shaping young minds, the Soviet official purging dangerous reactionaries.

The coffee shop owner that humiliates a Jewish customer does not see himself as a bigot, he sees himself as practicing virtue.

First off, what true working-class person would pay $9.82 for a coffee? Second, Poetica Coffee lists the people it won’t serve — fascist, genocide enablers and so on. Why doesn’t it list socialists and communists? That form of government has killed more people than any other in human history.
