Kelsey Swanson‘s life of leisure came to a screeching halt in tonight’s episode of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
The born-and-raised Rhode Islander shared in the show’s premiere episode that she had been dating an older man who comes from one of the most prominent families in Rhode Island for the last decade. Ever since meeting him on a yacht at 19 years old, Swanson has been living a job-free life in his 16,000 square foot New England estate—even when he spends the first part of each year in Miami with his other girlfriend. While Swanson does not mention him by name in the show, internet sleuths quickly found him to be John Caprio, son of the late Judge Frank Caprio, who was known for his viral courtroom clips.
For the last six episodes of RHORI, the future of Swanson’s relationship has been up for debate. While she expressed desire for a more committed relationship (one that includes marriage and children), she said Caprio, who already has kids of his own, would not budge on the topic. Swanson also introduced us to her “other man” Bill L’Europa, who seemed more than ready to settle down with her once she figured out her other relationship — and, judging by tonight’s episode, it appears that Swanson finally made her decision.
So, did Swanson break up with her boyfriend? And who is she dating now? Keep reading for everything we know.
In Episode 6 of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island, titled Newport, New Problem, Swanson reveals that she finally ended things with her boyfriend. She says they were lying in bed one night when she told him she felt like their relationship had “run its course,” and he didn’t fight her on it. As we know, Swanson has been looking for a more stable relationship, and her boyfriend’s continued desire for multiple girlfriends over marriage and children was the nail in the coffin.
“It wasn’t one specific moment that was like, ‘Alright, I’m leaving.’ It just kept building and building and building, and every time I thought it couldn’t get worse, it got worse,” Swanson says in her confessional. “I know, in general, my relationship is very unconventional. It was a certain way in the beginning, and there was maybe one other person, but as the years went on, there were more people than I initially thought.”
Later in the episode, we see Liz McGraw helping Swanson go through her things, so she can find a place of her own, build her hair and makeup career, and become fully independent for the first time in her life.
It’s unclear whether or not Swanson is still single. Based on tonight’s episode, it seems like she ended things with her mystery boyfriend to pursue a more stable relationship with Bill L’Europa, her more age-appropriate side piece, whom she’s known since middle school. Even McGraw says L’Europa has the “same life goals” as Swanson. But in the teaser for next week’s episode, it seems like her long-term man was still funding her life after their split (she also commented, “😂🙌❤️,” underneath a cheeky video her ex’s daughter recently posted from the same room Swanson filmed her confessionals). So, did the breakup stick? We’re not exactly sure at this point in time; however, Swanson will likely give an update on her dating life when she appears on tonight’s episode of Watch What Happens Live. We will update this piece accordingly once the episode airs.
