Memorial Day weekend will be wet and cold, spoiling cooko...

Memorial Day weekend will feel less like the unofficial start of summer and more like another dreary spring day — with plans for barbeques imperiled by “gloomy” forecasts of wind, rain and chilly temps.

“This does not look like an all-weekend washout, but it will be a damp, gloomy and chilly holiday weekend overall,” AccuWeather meteorologist Carl Erickson told The Post.

Saturday will kick things off on a low note, with temperatures across the New York metro area sitting in the mid-50s and topping out at a clammy 58 degrees Fahrenheit, AccuWeather forecasts show.

AccuWeather forecast map for Memorial Day, showing "Warm" conditions in the Midwest, "Dry" in the Southwest, and "Humid" in the Southeast, with areas of showers and thunderstorms across the eastern and central US.

Rain is expected to persist throughout Saturday, while breezy conditions will things cool.

And Sunday won’t be much better, with temperatures eking out a high of just 60 degrees and lows in the mid-50s.

Sunday will also be steadily cloudy, with lighter rain coming down in drizzles and spotty showers throughout the day.

Monday will be much of the same — with the holiday bringing more clouds and more showers.

Memorial Day’s silver lining will be slightly warmer weather, with highs around 68 degrees Fahrenheit expected.

“Monday is not expected to be a total washout, but it likely will not feel like classic summer kickoff weather, either with a mostly cloudy sky and showers,” Erickson said. “Even when it is not raining the ground will likely remain damp given the rain this weekend.”

But summer will soon be on its way — sunny skies will bring temps in the upper 70s beginning Tuesday and through the rest of the week.

Sustained hot temperatures should arrive by late June and persist into July, Erickson predicted.

The holiday cold comes after the metro area was blasted by a preview of summer — with sunny temps in the 80s and 90s heating the region over the weekend through mid-week.
