Get ready for some not-so-merry adventures with The Death of Robin Hood, a new dark twist on the legendary anti-hero of English folklore. You won’t see any smiling cartoon foxes in this movie!

Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One), this is a gritty adaptation of Robin Hood’s Death, an English ballad that dates back to at least the 17th century, possibly even earlier. Hugh Jackman stars as the man in the hood, aka Robin Hood, an archer who spent his youth stealing from the rich and gives to the poor. But now, in his elder years, Robin Hood reflects on his life of crime and his many sins. He has plenty of time to think it over when he finds himself in the care of a mysterious woman (played by Jodie Comer) after a serious injury lays him up.

Also starring Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe, The Death of Robin Hood basically sounds like Logan, but for Robin Hood. It even has Hugh Jackman! If you’re curious about the movie but would rather wait to watch it at home, then read on to find out what we know about when and where The Death of Robin Hood movie will be streaming.

Where to watch The Death of Robin Hood movie:

For now, The Death of Robin Hood will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters nationwide in the U.S. on Friday, June 19. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. The Death of Robin Hood movie is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is The Death of Robin Hood movie streaming on Netflix?

The Death of Robin Hood is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix in the U.S. any time soon, due to the fact that the film is being released by A24 in the U.S., and the 2023 deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery, brings all A24’s previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the Warner Bros. streaming service HBO Max. If you want to watch The Death of Robin Hood at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on HBO Max.

If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $10.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $18.49/month.

Right now, HBO Max is offering up to 40% off annual plans. Regularly priced at $109.99/year or higher, right now, you can get 12 months for as low as $78.99/year.

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $19.99/month and without ads, $32.99/month.

When will The Death of Robin Hood movie be streaming on HBO Max?

You might see The Death of Robin Hood movie streaming on HBO Max around October 2026.

The Death of Robin Hood is not yet streaming on HBO Max. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see The Death of Robin Hood streaming on HBO Max eventually—thanks to the A24 and Warner Bros. deal—but we’re not sure when.

The A24 deal is a “Pay-1 deal,” which means A24 movies will start streaming on Max in the “Pay 1 window,” meaning that Max will be the first “TV channel” to pay for the rights The Death of Robin Hood, after the film has been released on digital and home media. One recent A24 title, The Moment began streaming on HBO Max about four months after its release in theater.

If The Death of Robin Hood follows a similar release strategy, you might see The Death of Robin Hood on digital in about a month, around July 2026, and streaming on HBO Max in about four months, around October 2026.

This is all speculation. The A24 digital and streaming releases have varied by title. If you want to watch The Death of Robin Hood right away, you can catch the movie everywhere in U.S. theaters on Friday.
