Two giant Southern California water parks reveal opening ...

Southern Californians ready to swap traffic jams for splash zones this Memorial Day weekend are in luck — as some of the region’s biggest water parks are officially kicking off summer with towering slides, giant wave pools and adrenaline-pumping rides.

Among the biggest draws is Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles, which reopens Saturday for the 2026 season with a sprawling 22-acre layout packed with attractions including 75-foot vertical drop slides, a 1,300-foot lazy river and a massive wave pool.

Situated right next to Six Flags Magic Mountain, the Valencia water park is betting that Angelenos are ready to swap a regular pool for some high-octane aquatic adrenaline.

The crown jewel of the park’s return is the formidable Black Snake Summit. Rising 75 feet into the air, the slide tower features some of the tallest enclosed water slides in SoCal.

For those looking to keep their heart rate under triple digits, the park’s River Cruise lazy river offers over 1,000 feet of continuous floating.

But the real heavyweight of SoCal water parks may be Raging Waters Los Angeles, which already opened for summer on May 10 and is once again flexing its title as California’s largest water park.

Located about 30 minutes from Downtown LA, the San Dimas attraction sprawls across more than 60 acres and boasts over 50 rides and attractions.

Thrill-seekers can check out the Aqua Rocket, billed as the California’s only hydromagnetic water coaster, which uses magnets to propel riders through 55-foot sky launches, making it essentially a roller coaster that you ride in a swimsuit.

If that’s not enough to get your heart racing, brave High Extreme, a pair of 600-foot speed slides where riders can hit speeds of up to 35 mph. For the true masochists, Bombs Away features a trap-door floor that vanishes, sending guests into a free-fall drop.

For families looking for a more relaxed summer vibe, the park also offers a giant wave pool and the Amazon Adventure lazy river, an 18-foot-wide tropical river which stretches a quarter-mile-long.

The reopening frenzy comes as Angelenos gear up for another hot summer and look for affordable ways to cool down without having to leave the region.
