‘In The City’ star Yvonne Najor sets the record straight after revealing her husband didn’t notice her absense for days: “He did get a lot of heat for that comment”
Samantha Nungesser · 2026-06-24 · via New York Post

Published June 24, 2026, 10:00 a.m. ET

After more than a decade of being Lindsay Hubbard‘s best friend and hiding from cameras at Summer House parties, Yvonne Najor is making her reality TV debut on Bravo’s new spinoff, In The City.

This season, Najor, who formerly worked as the vice president of marketing at a high-profile nightlife empire, is letting viewers in on newlywed life with her husband Nick Barber, whom she wed in Mexico in 2024 (and legally in the United States last fall). However, it isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, as their mismatched timelines on starting a family have tested them in ways they never expected.

In fact, Najor shared in the premiere episode of In The City that one of their more heated arguments over the topic prompted her to book a flight to San Diego without telling Barber — and it wasn’t until a few days later that he even noticed she was gone. Looking back on the confession, Najor clarified to DECIDER that she flew to San Diego to see her family, not to “just go on a vacation.” She shared that she and Barber were working “demanding jobs at the time,” and, because of their schedules, they were often “two ships passing in the night,” which was likely why he didn’t realize she had left.

Najor, who is currently pregnant with their first baby, said they are now “stronger than ever,” and that she hasn’t booked a flight without telling her husband since that incident.

“I did feel like he did get a lot of heat from that comment, but he’s such a great guy,” she said. “Hopefully, you can see that on the show. We have a lot of respect for each other.”

When Najor stopped by DECIDER’s studio, she also spoke about the Bravo baby boom, Amanda Batula‘s performance at the In The City reunion, and what we can expect from the show’s upcoming Dinner Party From Hell. Check out the full interview below.

DECIDER: I’m so excited to chat with you about all things In The City. First of all, congratulations! You’re going to be a mom. How are you and Nick feeling about stepping into this new chapter as parents?

YVONNE NAJOR: Thank you for having me today. I’m so excited to be here. We are very excited. I think this is an exciting time in our lives. We just had a baby shower. My apartment looks like an Amazon fulfillment center for babies. I didn’t even realize one little human needed so many things. But we’re getting really excited and we’re starting to just plan for the nursery.

What did the In The City group chat look like when you, Danielle and Lexi all realized you were pregnant at the same time?

It was interesting because I feel like – I don’t know if it was like every other month or every other week someone was announcing their pregnancy. None of us knew the other was pregnant. But now we’re just so excited. It’s so fun to have a mom group. At the time, we were due within a few weeks of each other. Danielle just had her baby, so she had the first In the City baby. But yeah, it was pretty hilarious actually, that three of us got pregnant. Everyone’s like, “What were you guys drinking? What was in the water? What was in the tequila?”

Danielle actually had her baby a couple of days ago. Have you or anyone been in contact with her? How is she doing?

I’m so happy for her and Eoin. I also love their baby name, Aiden. I called them as soon as they had the baby and they seem to be doing great and I’m just so excited for them.

In The Valley, we’re getting to watch Kristen Doute and Nia Sanchez Booko’s postpartum journeys – and while a lot of people are praising them for being so honest, some felt like they needed a bit of a break before jumping back into the chaos and stress of a reality show. How do you and Nick plan to navigate that? And have you gotten to talk to either of those women about their experience?

First, I do want to say, I’m so grateful that they’re so vulnerable and they put their experience on TV. I’ve been around for a while. A lot of my friends have already had babies. Some of them have had challenging times with postpartum. Some of them moved on pretty quickly … We definitely will have the cameras on. If we have that opportunity, we’re so excited to share that chapter in our lives. I also am excited to look back at that time. I feel like you just kind of have to let go. You don’t really know what’s going to happen, right? I don’t know where my hormones are going to be or how I’m going to feel after I have a baby, but I’m hoping for the best. But we’ll definitely have the cameras on if we have that opportunity. I do really appreciate the fact that, again, the women on The Valley have like opened up their homes to us and given us a glimpse of what life is like after having a baby. I think it’s a different journey for every woman.

I want to get into the show a bit. You and Lindsay have been best friends for years. What made you finally decide to jump headfirst into this reality TV world? Was there any part of you that was nervous it could come between your friendship with Lindsay?

I’m so proud to be a New Yorker. I love this city. And I think, like when the opportunity about a New York show [presented itself], I was really excited to be part of that. With our show, I think New York City is a character in the show. Also, just like the idea of being with a real friend group just sounded fun. I thought it just seemed like an exciting opportunity, and I thought it was the perfect time.

There are so many people out there who were completely shocked when you said you went away for three days and Nick didn’t even notice. What do you say to the fans who think that’s a major red flag?

I didn’t think this question was going to come up. We had talked about our timeline for a year and a half, so we had a very heated fight. One thing that was left out [was that] my family lives in San Diego. We got into a fight. I did fly to San Diego to see my family. I didn’t just go on a vacation. We also had really demanding jobs at the time. I was working in hospitality. My hours sometimes were like 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. and Nick is an entrepreneur, so we were kind of ships in the night. Sometimes we would miss each other. But we have grown from that experience. We’ve learned and I haven’t booked a flight since without telling him. We’re stronger than ever.

Every couple hits a bump in the road.

It’s also your first year of marriage. It’s learning how to communicate. Booking a flight probably wasn’t the best thing to do …  But Nick is a great guy. I did feel like he did get a lot of heat from that comment, but he’s such a great guy. Hopefully, you can see that on the show. We have a lot of respect for each other.

In tonight’s episode, we get to see your second wedding. Talk to me a bit about that.

We had a four-day beautiful celebration in Mexico. We did have an ordained minister officiant. Honestly, it was so hectic like I had.I’m a planner. That’s my background. So I feel like we spent so much time planning this big event. That day will always be our wedding day. But yes, we definitely procrastinated and we did not get down to the courthouse and we waited a long time. But it ended up being like the perfect time for us. And hey, we did it before we had a baby.

There’s going to be a pretty heated dinner. What can you tease about that?

I don’t even know where to start. First of all, I was very proud of that dinner because I designed the entire event and it’s very beautiful. The room has a full transformation. But it’s a crazy dinner. I think you’re going to see a lot of people fighting. I would give my event planning a 10 out of 10. My guest list? Maybe a zero out of 10. But I’ll let you decide. It was probably one of the most traumatic dinners I’ve ever experienced and also have seen on TV.

In The City is obviously coming at a very tumultuous time in the Summer House universe. What does your friendship with Amanda currently look like?

Amanda was at the reunion. I think one thing you’re going to see from the reunion is that she had a lot to say. I think you have to wait till the reunion.

Would you say she was more vocal at the In the City reunion than the Summer House reunion?

Yeah, I would say Amanda had more to say and Kenny had more to answer for.

Lindsay really killed it in the Summer House bonus episode last week, and while Amanda seemed to second guess things with West by the end, the two of them have since been spotted together several times. What do you make of that? Was Amanda actually second-guessing? Or was she just trying to please Lindsay at the moment?

I think I had the same reaction that you had. I felt like Lindsay had a breakthrough conversation. They were really connecting and she was really hearing her. So I was surprised that Amanda went to Italy. I would have liked to see a different outcome. But this is where we are.

Do you think her time on reality TV is over? Or can you picture her coming back to In The City next season? And will West be welcomed into the group if they are still together?

I don’t know. I think West is not part of our front group. This is this show is really about an authentic group of friends. We’ve all known each other for a very long time. Just to put things in perspective, I’ve known Gavin the longest. I’ve known him for 15 years. Lindsay is my best friend in the entire world. We’ve been best friends for 14 years. I’ve known Danielle, Kyle. My husband was connected with Kyle and even Carl [Radke] and Georgina. This is like a real group and I think that’s kind of the magic of the show.

You mentioned Carl. Everybody loves Carl. I’ve been living for all of the Carl/Lindsay content we’ve been getting lately. Do you see them ever getting back together? How would you feel about him joining In the City?

I am very interested in Carl’s life.I would love him to join In the City. I think it’s so cool that he’s opened his own nonalcoholic bar, Soft Bar. I love that he’s doing his podcast now. I think he’d be a great addition. We’ve all known Carl for a very long time. When Carl and Lindsay broke up,I was the first call. I was there for Lindsay through everything. They FaceTimed me from a shoot that they had in LA, and I was so happy to see that their friendship is back. It was kind of like a full circle moment. I love their friendship. I don’t see them getting back together romantically, but I definitely think they are meant to be friends.

I wasn’t going to ask you about this but I saw Kyle kissing another fan on my phone right before you got here. What do you think of Kyle the Kissing Bandit?

Go, Kyle! … You know how people throw cakes at Steve Aoki? Is this, like, Kyle’s thing? People just kiss him in the DJ booth? It’s actually so exciting to see his DJ career blow up. I worked in hospitality for a really long time, so I actually gave him an opportunity to DJ one of his first events. I’m so proud of him. I mean, it’s not an easy career and he’s really embraced it and he’s killing it.

What else can fans look forward to this season?

There is a lot of drama coming up. I think the next two episodes, there’s so much that happens in both episodes. And I think our reunion is pretty spicy. I’m excited for everyone to see it. I don’t know how much I can tease about it, but I definitely think you should tune in.

This interview has been edited for length and clarity.

In The City airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
