If you want to inject some scares in your Memorial Day weekend instead of having fun in the sun, good news: There’s a new supernatural horror movie, Passenger, opening in theaters tomorrow.
Directed by Norwegian filmmaker André Øvredal, with a screenplay written by T.W. Burgess and Zachary Donohue, Passenger stars Jacob Scipio and Lou Llobell, a young, engaged couple who bear witness to a terrible, fatal car accident. After the crash, they are pursued by a demonic stalker—the passenger—who follows them where ever they go.
Also starring Melissa Leo and Joseph Lopez, Passenger is sure to deliver the scares that horror fans crave. It will probably be most effective to watch the movie on the big screen, but if you’d rather wait to watch it at home, then read on for when and where we think Passenger will be streaming, including when Passenger will be streaming on Paramount+.
Passenger 2026 will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters in the U.S. on Friday, May 22. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Passenger 2026 is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Passenger 2026 is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video, and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Paramount Pictures release. Almost all Paramount movies go to Paramount’s streaming platform, Paramount+, and not to Netflix.
You will be able to purchase the Passenger movie on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Passenger on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon. If you want to watch Passenger movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Paramount+.
Paramount+ offers two subscription plans, Essential and Premium. The ad-supported Essential plan costs $8.99/month, while the ad-free Premium plan (which comes with Showtime titles and live CBS) costs $13.99/month.
You might see Passenger streaming on Paramount+ around late April 2026.
The official Passenger Paramount+ streaming date has not yet been announced. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see Passenger streaming on Paramount+ eventually, but we’re not sure when. Another recent Paramount film, Scream 7, was released on digital platforms one month after opening in theaters, and will begin streaming on Paramount+ next week, about three months after opening in theaters.
If Passenger follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital around late June 2026, and streaming on Paramount+ around late August 2026. (Presuming that Paramount+ and HBO Max have not yet combined into one streamer yet, as they plan to do.)
But this is all speculation. If you want to watch the Passenger 2026 movie right away, you can catch the movie in theaters.
