Jonquel Jones took a seat in a stairwell shortly after the Liberty wrapped up practice April 24.

It was tight quarters and not the typical place to do interviews. But Florence & The Machine was setting up to perform that night at Barclays Center, which means more foot traffic in the arena’s depths.

The Qatar Airways Club, where reporters usually wait for practice to open, is also undergoing renovation, resulting in less room than usual on one sideline of the team’s practice court.

From an outsider’s perspective, days like this make the need for a stand-alone practice facility glaringly obvious.
