Melania Trump has sounded off on Jimmy Kimmel, calling on ABC to “take a stand” against the Jimmy Kimmel Live host for what she described as his “hateful and violent rhetoric.”
In a post on X on Monday, the First Lady slammed Kimmel after he delivered “an alternative White House Correspondents’ Dinner” speech on Thursday night’s (April 23) episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, in which he quipped that Melania has “the glow of an expectant widow.” The monologue spoofed the speech typically given by a comedian at the annual event, which this year was hosted by mentalist Oz Pearlman, instead. The episode aired two nights before a shooting took place during the actual White House Correspondents’ Dinner, where both the president and first lady were in attendance.
“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country,” Melania wrote. “People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate. A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. How many times will ABC’s leadership enable Kimmel’s atrocious behavior at the expense of our community.”
DECIDER reached out to ABC for comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.
Kimmel has previously caught backlash from Donald Trump, with the president gloating after Jimmy Kimmel Live was previously pulled off the air last September over comments that Kimmel made in reference to Charlie Kirk‘s assassination.
— First Lady Melania Trump (@FLOTUS) April 27, 2026Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.
People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to…
“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED,” the president wrote on TruthSocial on Sept. 17. “Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.”
Trump also urged ABC to get Kimmel “off the air” in November after Kimmel delivered a monologue about how the president was handling the release of the Epstein files.
“Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?” he wrote in a Nov. 20, 2025 TruthSocial post. “Why do the TV Syndicates put up with it? Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!”
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
