Terrified tourists were seen scrambling for cover as they were pelted with lava from an exploding volcano in Guatemala.

Hikers tried to avoid being struck by chunks of burning rocks after Volcán de Fuego erupted — and the blast sent plumes of smoke billowing into the air.

“Oh my God, holy s–t,” one hiker yelled in a video shared by AccuWeather Friday. “Run! Run!” she said as the noise reverberated.

The hiker frantically darted to safety as chunks of rocks began to rain down, while one tourist scooped up a dog, bringing it to safety, according to local media reports cited by NeedtoKnow.

“Holy f–k,” she said, screaming.

Rocks were seen glowing on the ground – and one person even poured bottled water over the bright red debris.

Molten rock burned straight through the coat of hiker Hana García, who said a piece of rock “almost hit” her in the head, according to local media.

“The volcano erupted and I managed to film a little bit of it, but I didn’t record much because, while I was filming, I looked up and started seeing rocks falling,” she said.

“At that moment I was kind of in shock, and then I started running.”

The hiker described the moment as an “unforgettable experience” – but said she was “absolutely terrified” at the time.

Fuego is almost constantly active at a low level, producing small explosions of gas and ash every 15 to 20 minutes, Oregon State University researchers said.

It’s Guatemala’s most active volcano, erupting more than 60 times since the Spanish conquest in 1524, but only three of the blasts have caused fatalities.

The volcano’s most recent powerful explosion came on June 3, 2018, and the impact of the blast triggered pyroclastic flows that buried small towns, and killed over 100 people.

The blast produced ash clouds that reached up to 33,000 feet, which could be seen from space.
