Former reality television personality turned Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt has released an ingenious new campaign video focused on the grime across the city.

The social media clip, posted Sunday to X, features Pratt dressed in a hazmat-style protective suit while pressure-washing a dirty sidewalk.

The video opens with a freshly cleaned patch of pavement displaying a spray-painted campaign slogan urging voters to imagine cleaner streets under his leadership.

The video opens with a freshly cleaned patch of pavement displaying a spray-painted campaign slogan.

The footage later shifts to a local woman sweeping the sidewalk, who claims current city leadership targeted her because of her activism efforts.

During the ad, on-screen text accuses City Hall of ignoring worsening conditions in neighborhoods and argues residents have been forced to take cleanup efforts into their own hands.

The video quickly gained traction online, racking up hundreds of thousands of views within hours and sparking intense reactions from supporters and critics alike.

It's time to think bigger for LA. We don't have to accept the filth and the decline. We have the greatest slice of heaven on Earth with our city, and we deserve better. Vote for Pratt. Vote for LA. Vote TODAY. Let's clean this city together. pic.twitter.com/9Ry9p5Fv6F

Many social media users praised the unconventional campaign strategy, describing it as creative and sharply focused on frustrations surrounding cleanliness, homelessness and public disorder in Los Angeles.

“Already pressure washing the streets and he’s not even mayor yet,” one supporter wrote online, while another described the ad as “brilliant advertising.”

A third commenter called the campaign “one of the most ingenious and cutting-edge political campaigns ever,” arguing Pratt’s messaging style could influence future political advertising.

Others used the discussion to vent broader frustrations about the condition of the city. One user, who said they had visited Los Angeles multiple times over the past decade, claimed each visit felt “more unclean and more unsafe” than the last.

Another commenter identifying as a Santa Monica native reminisced about growing up in the area during the 1980s and 1990s, arguing the region had deteriorated over time due to failed political leadership.

Pratt is challenging incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman in the upcoming mayoral contest. A primary election is scheduled for June 2, but is expected to go into a runoff election in November if no candidate secures a majority of votes.

Bass is leading the field with 30% support, followed by Pratt at 22%, while Raman trailed in third place with 19%, according to a poll from Emerson College.

Throughout his campaign, Pratt has centered many of his public remarks on homelessness, crime and drug use in Los Angeles. He has proposed a controversial three-week warning period aimed at pushing criminals, drug users and unhoused residents to leave certain areas of the city.

The campaign has also attracted attention from national conservative figures.

Actor James Wood said of Pratt on X: “If he’s this clever as Mayor, a Democrat will never get elected again.”

Former Trump strategist Steve Bannon recently praised Pratt’s political style, comparing his outsider messaging approach to that of President Donald Trump.

Despite that support, Pratt has publicly insisted he is not aligned with either major political party.

In a recent social media statement, he described himself as “a pissed-off Angeleno” frustrated with what he called corrupt leadership in the city.

Pratt joined the Los Angeles mayoral race in response to the devastating 2025 wildfires, in which he lost his Pacific Palisades home.

Pratt has also caught to attention of Trump who noted he would like to see Pratt do well.

The former MTV star registered as a Republican in 2020 after concerns about personal safety and gun rights. He said years of receiving death threats during the height of his reality TV fame led him and his wife Heidi Montag to obtain firearms and concealed carry permits.
