A 21-year-old Survivor Greece contestant is in stable condition after losing part of his leg in a shocking spearfishing accident.
Survivor Greece has been pulled from airing on Skai TV after contestant Stavros Floros, a beekeeper hailing from Kavala, was “accidentally struck” by a boat during a spearfishing accident in the Dominican Republic, according to a statement from production company AcunMedya via Toronto Sun.
The incident occurred on Saona Island during a break in filming and “outside the competitive process of the reality show.” Floros was “diving without a surface marker buoy in an area frequented by tourist vessels” when he was struck by a boat’s propellers. The contestant sustained “severe injuries to his legs… including a partial amputation of the left leg and significant trauma to the right ankle.”
The production company states Floros received “immediate” assistance and was transported to receive medical attention. “The contestant remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition and is out of danger,” AcunMedya stated.

Local authorities are reportedly investigating the incident to “fully determine” what happened.
Skai TV said in a statement Survivor Greece is suspended from airing until the incident is fully investigated.
The network also stated it will “contribute in every possible way to his treatment, as well as to any hospitalization and rehabilitation care required.”
“SKAI has been informed of the serious accident involving a Survivor contestant in the Dominican Republic and expresses its sorrow and full support to him and his family,” the network’s statement says, per The U.S. Sun.
“Although the production of Survivor is carried out exclusively under the control and responsibility of Acun Medya, SKAI is closely monitoring the participant’s health condition.”
