Alyssa Farah Griffin is not immediately poo-pooing the reported reboot of The Apprentice.

The View tackled a recent report from The Wall Street Journal that Amazon is “discussing a potential reboot” of the reality competition show originally hosted by Donald Trump, with his son, Donald Trump Jr. potentially being considered to succeed him as host. While Griffin said she’s “not the audience for this” and “will not be tuning in,” she offered up how the show may have an audience for a certain time.

“But before you throw your tomatoes, it’s not the worst idea for a year or two. So hear me out here from a business perspective,” she prefaced.

Griffin explained that “77 million people voted for Donald Trump,” but only about “20% of that are his diehard fans,” who show their support in ways like purchasing his merchandise and seeing Melania—which was also distributed by Amazon—which she said “had a huge opening” which people were “surprised” by.

“If you get a fraction of those people for a year or two to watch this reboot of The Apprentice, great. My point would be, come 2028, I think the Trump fatigue is going to be very real,” she added. “I’m not signing a 10-year deal for this show. I’d maybe do, like, one year let’s give it a trial run. But MAGA diehards will watch it, and then the rest of us can tune out.”

Sara Haines questioned Griffin’s argument, noting that Griffin had “just pitched this story that was interesting about six out of 10 people don’t even want to read anything with Donald Trump’s name.”

Griffin replied, “Correct.”

“That kind of flies in the face of even a two-year deal, right?” Haines asked.

Sunny Hostin agreed, “Yeah, why would they want to watch a show?”

Ana Navarro cited Amazon’s former CEO and current Executive Chair Jeff Bezos‘ big pockets, noting that Bezos “gave money to the inaugural committee” and to Trump’s ballroom, in addition to attending this week’s State Dinner with the King and Queen.

“This is not about making money or it’s a hit or not,” she said. “It’s about how close can I get to Donald Trump.”

Griffin quipped, “And for one year, we can get some chaotic TV on Amazon.”
