'Yellowstone' stars tease spinoff crossovers for 'Dutton ...
Lauren Sarne · 2026-05-08 · via New York Post

Family ties.

“Yellowstone” star Kelly Reilly teased the idea of a crossover between her spinoff show, “Dutton Ranch” and her onscreen brother’s spinoff, “Marshals.”

“I’m so proud of Luke, and we love him so much, and I miss him,” Reilly told People, referring to former co-star Luke Grimes.

She added, “I wish we had a crossover. Maybe we will in the future.”

The hit cowboy drama “Yellowstone” aired on Paramount from 2018 to 2024. It centered on the powerful Dutton family in Montana, including patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his adult children: sons Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Kayce (Grimes), daughter Beth (Reilly), and her husband, Rip (Hauser).

Spoiler alert! John and Jamie didn’t survive the end of the show. Kayce got the spinoff “Marshals,” (on CBS) and Beth and Rip are getting their own spinoff, “Dutton Ranch” (premiering May 15 on Paramount).

Paramount and CBS have not announced whether Kayce and Beth will cross over onto each other’s shows.

In the interview with People, which was published Thursday, Reilly said that she and Hauser both “care a lot” about the show and their characters, and are “slightly obsessive” about it.

She teased that in “Dutton Ranch,” Rip and Beth will be out of their element because they were “the top dogs” in Montana.

In the new show, as they move to Texas, “they’re the strangers…They don’t know what they’re dealing with.”

The actress went down memory lane, recalling how Beth was “pretty awful” to Rip at the start of “Yellowstone.”

Hauser told the outlet that he thought that the beginning phase of their relationship “was funny. I’m a little sick that way.”

He added that he thought the longtime cowboy couple’s relationship was “so bizarre” initially, and that series creator Taylor Sheridan “gave room for Kelly and me to be able to take even more risks with them and play.”

Sheridan is exec producing “Dutton Ranch,” but Chad Feehan is the creator and showrunner. He was quietly let go three weeks before the premiere for allegedly clashing with Reilly and Hauser.

Sheridan had his own share of behind the scenes drama with his cast.

The fifth and final season of “Yellowstone” was besieged by rumors of his alleged feud with Costner.

He also got into legal drama with Hauser. In November 2023, Hauser’s coffee brand, Free Rein Coffee Company, was sued by Bosque Ranch — which is owned by Sheridan, claiming that the coffee brand used a mark “strikingly similar” to Bosque Ranch’s registered trademark.

The suit was dismissed in December that same year.

Hauser didn’t mention the lawsuit in the interview with People, but he did praise Sheridan’s writing.

“That’s the thing that Taylor does as a writer is that he gives you this freedom, whether you know it or not, to actually really be creative and try new things,” Hauser said.

“Dutton Ranch” premieres May 15 on Paramount Network (8 pm) and on Paramount+.
