Ted Lasso is making its highly anticipated return, and based on the newly announced release date, we’d say it’s shooting to be the show of the summer!
In January 2026, Apple TV shared first-look photos and additional plot/cast details about Ted Lasso‘s fourth season, but on Tuesday, April 28, we got an exciting teaser and finally learned the premiere date. Mark your calendars, Richmond fans! Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres on Wednesday, August 5, 2026!
Per Apple TV’s official synopsis, “In Season 4, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
In addition to star/EP Jason Sudeikis, other fan-favorite Ted Lasso stars including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift are reprising their roles. Plus, new cast members Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely are joining the series.
Based on the Season 4 teaser (located at the top of this article) we can see that Ted is back in action, his wife and son are at a game cheering him on, Roy and Keeley are facing their feelings head on (literally), Rebecca is hot and heavy with her Dutch boat man who I just learned is named Matthijs (Matteo van der Grijn), we get eyes on Tracey Ullman, and the women’s team appears to be kicking butt!
With Mumford & Sons and Hozier’s “Rubber Band Man” setting the mood, it’s hard not to feel right back at home with Ted Lasso. At the same time, this new team full of fresh faces adds an exciting novelty to the series ensuring even the most diehard fans of the series will feel like they’re getting to know the show all over again.
A newly released photo shows Coach Lasso and Coach beard standing on the sidelines with Reynolds’ character, so we can’t wait to learn more about her and see the trio form what’s sure to be a delightful dynamic.
As noted in a previous article, we also know that in addition to London, Season 4 filmed some scenes in Kansas City, and several AFC Richmond members will be visiting Ted in his (and Sudeikis’) hometown for some good old fashioned barbecue.
If you need a refresher on the other Ted Lasso Season 4 first look photos Apple TV has shared, here they are!
After Season 3’s finale left viewers uncertain about the show’s future and several unresolved storylines, Ted Lasso will have to bring its A-Game and answer some pressing questions in Season 4. Were all those flash-forwards at the end of Season 3 real-life events? Can Roy and Keeley PLEASE get back together? Will TedBecca stans ever get the rom-com ending they’ve been yearning for? Only time will tell!
But based on the teaser and the fact that the critically-acclaimed series snagged 61 Emmy nominations and 13 wins, the continuation smells like pure potential to us! Ted Lasso Season 4’s August 5 premiere date can’t come soon enough. Or in the words of Ted, we need new episodes ASAP, PP. (As soon as possible, pretty please!)
Ted Lasso Season 4 premieres on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 with one episode, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through October 7. Stay tuned for more Ted Lasso coverage from Decider.
