The uncertainty surrounding Maddi Reese‘s future is starting to stress her out in tonight’s episode of Southern Hospitality.
Last week, Reese opened up about her desire to someday get married and start a family. But because she suffers from Celiac disease—an autoimmune disorder that makes it so she can’t eat gluten—and her family history of infertility, Reese was toying with the idea of freezing her eggs.
The conversations continues in an exclusive clip DECIDER obtained from tonight’s episode of Southern Hospitality, during which Reese breaks down over the mounting pressure to make a decision about her future.
“I just had a conversation with my mom. I feel like my mom will put this pressure on me, that I need to figure everything out and go freeze my eggs,” Reese tells her boyfriend, Joe Bradley, through tears. “Looking into my future is just something that I don’t enjoy doing. I feel like I’m just a kid, Joe. Why do I have to figure out the marriage, the kids, all in this one summer?”
She continues, “My mom is like, ‘Knowledge is power.’ I’m like, no the fuck it’s not. That’s a curse. Half of the smartest people in the world — even in Fantastic Four, Dr. Reed is like, ‘This is a curse.’”
Over in her confessional, the 28-year-old learns that it’s not only possible to freeze her eggs, but she can also freeze an embryo.
“You can freeze an embryo? People do that? Woah. So it’s like the movies, where there’s just a baby floating in a scientific liquid?” she asks producers, proving that knowledge might, in fact, be power. Upon learning that an embryo is simply a fertilized egg, Reese appears to back off from the idea. “What if Joe and I don’t get married or work out?” she questions. “Then I’m wasting my eggs on some other guy’s sperm.”
Like his girlfriend, Bradley also doesn’t seem crazy about the idea of freezing an embryo. “I mean, there’s been food that I’ve frozen and it didn’t come out — I feel like it expired in the freezer,” he says. “I don’t know how this works.”
The clip ends with Reese declaring, “My brain is a curse.”
See what happens when Southern Hospitality airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
