

























The last time the Mets returned to Citi Field, they were 11 games into a historic losing streak and had the worst record in baseball.
When they open their homestand Tuesday against a Detroit team that’s dropped five of six, the Mets will still have the worst record in the sport and may be in an even more dire spot than before.
Any hope that their awful start would last just a few weeks — as bad as that would have been — has been erased.
And the reality of the situation is even more evident: The Mets are bad, and there doesn’t seem to be an answer for how to turn their season around.
