An Indian tourist killed after he was thrown to his death from a Central Park horse has been pictured, as his distraught relatives say the teen was trying to save his mother’s life.
Romanch Mahajan, 18, and his family were in one of New York’s iconic carriages when the horse suddenly bolted, sending his mother flying out.
“My son, just to save his mother, he fell off. He was screaming, ‘Mom!'” Mahajan’s devastated father, Deepak, told the New York Times.

Mahajan fell on the ground, striking his head, and later died in the NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center following Wednesday afternoon’s shocking incident.
The carriage driver had gotten out to take a picture of the family when the horse bolted, tearing up onto the sidewalk and accelerating on the grass.
“We were yelling, ‘Help me, help me!'” the teen’s father said, describing how they had clung desperately to each other inside the buffeting carriage.
The incident is now under investigation, with the carriage driver’s union saying its members are never allowed to leave the carriage.
“It appears the driver was at least at arm’s length from his horse. This is unacceptable,” Alexander Kemp, a vice president at Transport Workers Union Local 100, said in a statement.
“A driver is not supposed to leave the carriage to take photos — ever. We support a full investigation,” he continued.
