‘The Four Seasons’ renewed for Season 3 at Netflix: What ...

The Four Seasons is officially coming back for Season 3 and we personally cannot wait to see more David Tennant.

Less than three weeks after Season 2 premiered on Netflix and reminded fans of what they loved about the Tina Fey series, the streaming service has announced that the comedy will return for a third season. The news was announced Monday by Jinny Howe, Netflix’s Head of Scripted Series for US and Canada, at the BANFF World Media Festival.

In a statement, co-creators Tracey Wigfield, Lang Fisher, and Fey said that they are excited to bring eight more episodes of friendship dynamics to the screen and to reunite with their all-star cast, including Colman Domingo, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Will Forte, Erika Henningsen, and Marco Calvani.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring a third season of The Four Seasons to life,” the trio shared. “Thank you to everyone who watched.  Middle-aged people, LFG [let’s f**king go]!”

The renewal is no major surprise to anyone who noticed the series performing well on the Netflix charts; Season 2, which dropped all eight episodes on May 28, captured 24.4. million views in the first two weeks of streaming. Additionally, according to Netflix metrics, the series reached Top 10 in 56 countries and has remained in the Global 10 since.

Streaming numbers aside, many fans predicted that this would not be the last we see of this particular friend group, especially since Season 2 ended on a bit of a love cliffhanger for Anne (Kenney-Silver), who bumps into her new Italian neighbor, Gianpiero, played by Tennant. Earlier in the Season 2 finale, Anne lied about her relationship status, saying she was dating a fabulous Italian man named Gianpiero, whom she completely made up. That twist of fate was everything the creators needed to set up a then-potential third season, featuring the Doctor Who actor in a charming, adorable way.

“Anne obviously has been on a journey in Season 1 and then Season 2 as well, you know, she’s trying to be Anne 2.0 and have this sort of personal renaissance, but it’s not going great. So there was something really exciting when we were thinking about a cliffhanger for a possible Season 3 of having a romantic cliffhanger, and someone that you would get so excited to see more stories with,” Wigfield told DECIDER.

“If we got a Season 3, we would hope to, we would want to include him,” Fisher added as the pair shared that they think Kenney-Silver and Tennant look great together, and it makes them even more excited about exploring that possible relationship in the next season.

No word yet on whether Tennant will be a regular or a recurring guest star in Season 3, but no one is more thrilled to be getting to play in the sandbox with the acclaimed Scottish actor than Kenney-Silver, who is surely going to have her fair share of scenes in Season 3 with Gianpiero.

“I lost my mind. There were a lot of ideas thrown around there, I mean, just on paper. I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ I laughed out loud when he said his name was Gianpiero, when I read the script — I didn’t see it coming,” Kenney-Silver told DECIDER of her reaction to Tennant’s entrance.

She added, “And how perfect is David Tennant? How perfect? Let me tell you, on the day of shooting, that man and I spent maybe one hour together in our lives. When he left, we were like four-year-olds under a fort blanket.”

The Four Seasons is streaming on Netflix. Season 3 is expected to release in spring 2027.

Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.
