The masterminds behind Big Mouth are back with a salacious new, star-studded series in Mating Season.

The new Netflix series is an adult animated romcom set in a forest where a crew of friends – Ray, Josh, Fawn and Penelope – are navigating the ups and downs of love and dating. Mating Season explores “the universal need to find a partner and perpetuate the species – starring bears, raccoons, deer, foxes and a host of other horny, lovable forest critters,” per the official synopsis.

The hilarious new show has all of the same qualities that made viewers enjoy Big Mouth during its eight-season run on Netflix – shockingly crass jokes, fun animation styles and a star-studded cast full of your favorite comedians. The series also feels refreshingly relevant to today’s dating culture in the way it tackles polygamy, mommy issues, U-Hauling, cheating and many more dating taboos that seem to plague the animal kingdom as much as it’s affecting us humans.

The cast of Mating Season is led by four comedic heavyweights – Nick Kroll, Zach Woods, June Diane Raphael and Sabrina Jalees – but they’re backed by an unbelievable cast of guest stars, some of whom you might have some trouble recognizing by their voice alone.

But here’s everything you need to know about who plays who in the Mating Season cast ahead of the show’s premiere on Netflix on Friday, May 22.

• Nick Kroll as Ray

  Nick Kroll co-created the series with Mark Levin, but he also stars as the rambunctious and mischievous raccoon Ray, who has an unhealthy relationship to casual sex (and, even more problematically, his mommy.)

  Kroll is a prolific actor known for both his live-action and voice work alike; with memorable voice acting roles in Big Mouth, which he also co-created, as well as Sausage Party, GOAT, and Human Resources. He has also appeared in The League, Parks and Recreation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, What We Do In The Shadows and many more comedies.

• June Diane Raphael as Fawn

  June Diane Raphael stars as Fawn, a doe who ends up in several questionable relationships this season during her search for Mr. Right.

  Some may recognize this hilarious actress from The Morning Show or Weapons, but she’s also starred in Abbott Elementary, Grace and Frankie, and New Girl. She is also a prolific voice actress with credited work in American Dad, Big City Greens, and Krapopolis.

• Zach Woods as Josh

  Zach Woods stars as Josh, a gentle giant of a bear surrounded by his chaotic slew of friends.

  Woods also starred on Big Mouth, What We Do In The Shadows, as well as The Afterparty, Silicon Valley, and The Office.

• Sabrina Jalees as Penelope

  Sabrina Jalees stars as Penelope, a lesbian fox who struggles with flirting.

  Jalees is a comedic writer with credits on Harley Quinn, Search Party and Powerless. Her acting credits include Mile End Kicks, #1 Happy Family USA, and Carol’s Second Act.
