It’s finally happened!

Grown Ups 3, a third installment in Adam Sandler‘s hit comedy film series, is officially in the works at Netflix, the streamer revealed at its Upfront presentation on Wednesday.

Deadline reports that Happy Gilmore 2 director Kyle Newacheck is attached to direct the new film, while Sandler and Tim Herlihy will write the script. According to the outlet, producers on the film include Sandler, his wife Jackie Sandler, Herlihy, and Jack Giarraputo, while Kevin Grady and Judit Maull are executive producers.

The original Grown Ups, which hit theaters in 2010, centered on the reunion of childhood friends Lenny Feder (Sandler), Eric Lamonsoff (Kevin James), Kurt McKenzie (Chris Rock), Marcus Higgins (David Spade), and Rob Hillard (Rob Schneider) as they mourned the loss of their former basketball coach, and celebrated the 4th of July with their families at a lake house together. Grown Ups 2 arrived in 2013, which saw Lenny move his family back to his hometown where they could be closer to his friends and their families.

A third film had long been rumored, with Sandler teasing to Us Weekly last fall that he and his co-stars “would love” to return for another film.

“To be with those guys would be incredible,” he said. “I had the best time making both those movies, but we don’t know what the hell is happening quite yet.”

Dennis Dugan, who directed and also made cameos in both Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2, told DECIDER last July that “there’s always been talk about Grown Ups 3” when asked asked about the possibility of other Sandler sequels.

“Even during Grown Ups 2, everybody’s going, ‘Yeah, we gotta do 3,'” he added.

While speaking with DECIDER earlier this year, Tim Meadows—who played Malcolm in both Grown Ups films—said he had “heard nothing about Grown Ups 3,” teasing that he is “somewhere down low on the call sheet on that movie.”
