Caitlin Clark has a a brand new signature shoe.

The Fever star and Nike worked together to release the Caitlin 1, making Clark the fifth active WNBA player to have a signature shoe and the third with Nike, the company announced Wednesday afternoon.

The shoe is expected to release on Oct. 1.

“This is like your debut album, you want it to be killer,” Clark told ESPN.

Clark joins Aces star A’ja Wilson and the Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu under the Nike umbrella with her own pair. The soon-to-be-released sneakers are all blue and have Clark’s logo on the tongue. The texture of the shoe is also made up of all miniature C’s. 

The announcement has been teased for a long time by the WNBA star.

Previously, she told reporters that her long-standing rule of playing only in the Kobe Bryant line of shoes was coming to an end. 

Then, on Instagram, Clark changed her username to Caitlin1 and set the profile picture to a zoomed-in image of the shoe. The final hint came on Tuesday night during pregame warmups before the Fever’s 113-91 blowout win over the Toronto Tempo, when she wore an all-blue outfit and a bracelet with the numbers 10-1-26. 

Clark described to ESPN what she thought about when designing her shoe. 

“I wanted this to be something that looked different than something that’s on the shelves,” Clark said, “but I also wanted it to be something that people are comfortable wearing. I got really crazy and expressive with the colors, and I think that kind of speaks to my love for inspiring the next generation and how they love to express themselves.

The shoe was not only made to be flashy and comfortable but also, according to Nike, to offer benefits on the court. The shoes have “Nike Opticast” built in, which, according to the company, helps “reduce drag and enhance on-court movement.”

Clark has averaged 20.4 points per game this season for the Fever, who are 9-5, good for sixth in the WNBA.
