He took the sign literally.

A man “going through some kind of moment” leapt from onto the awning of a Bed-Stuy bar called Do or Dive and dragged it to the ground in a scene barflies said was straight out of a movie.

Do or Dive’s iconic banner has been lying dismantled in its Bed-Stuy backyard since the drama unfolded seemingly out of the blue Tuesday afternoon.

The mystery jumper was crawling on a neighboring Bedford Avenue roof around 1 p.m. and grabbed one of the second-floor windows, but then suddenly lost his grip.

Fortunately for the man, who neighbors say lives on the block, the awning broke his fall, but wasn’t strong enough and ultimately both fell to the ground.

The man was apparently injury-free and ran back inside the building.

“It’s f–king nuts,” a bartender at the dive told The Post, adding that the scene was: “Just like in the movies.”

“Everybody was like, ‘RIP, yikes, oh, no, so sad,'” the bartender, who declined to share their name, said.

The NYPD received at least one call for an emotionally disturbed person, but neighbors insisted that the jumper was not “crazy.”

“He was just going through some kind of moment. He’s a very nice person. I feel bad for whatever happened to him,” said Richard Garland, who works at the real estate agency next door and spoke with the man after the incident.

“He felt that someone was trying to get him or something … I think he just went through some kind of moment where he was paranoid and that’s what happened. Luckily, he was only on the 2nd floor, no one was underneath. From my understanding, nobody got injured.”

That’s the same theory making its run around the rumor mill, one barfly said Thursday.

“This is all hearsay: that he was paranoid, that something was chasing out of the apartment or whatever, 
so he jumped,” the patron said.

“I assumed he would have been hospitalized for a while, but from what I understand, he’s already back home.”

Police said the man was 27-years-old and was taken by EMS to a local hospital for an evaluation, but had not been charged for the property damage.

The banner is at least four decades old and has been gracing the 1180 Bedford Ave. front since it housed B’s West Indian restaurant.

The bright yellow banner’s text was stripped away and repurposed when Do or Dine took over the property in 2011 — and the sign was repurposed for a third time in 2016 when Do or Dive simply chose to use black tape to transform the name.

Fortunately, the incident did little to impede business and Do or Dive remained open despite its broken awning.

The bar plans to resurrect the sign in the coming days.
