For nearly two decades, the Jersey Shore cast has been delivering prime entertainment right to our living rooms every “Jerzday.” What was once a group of strangers entering a share house in Seaside, NJ, quickly became a family that has traveled the world together. Now, after 17 years and two shows, MTV is getting ready to close the curtains on Jersey Shore … but that doesn’t necessarily mean the cast is ready to say goodbye.
Jersey Shore first premiered in 2009, and went on for six seasons before ending in 2012. The cast reunited for the first time in 2018 for Jersey Shore Family Vacation, a spinoff that not only sent them on mini-trips around the country, but one that focused on their personal lives as parents, spouses, and businesspeople. The show also brought back Angelina Pivarnick, who was replaced by Deena Cortese in Jersey Shore after leaving the first two seasons early. The spinoff is currently airing its ninth season, and features every OG cast member.
“When [Jersey Shore] first ended, we thought that that was it. We were ready to move on,” Vinny Guadagnino told DECIDER when he and his castmates stopped by our studio last month. “And then I remember when we came back for Family Vacation, we had this giant billboard in Times Square, the whole world was talking about it. It was like the biggest Avengers comeback, and we’re still doing it now, so that’s amazing.”
So, is Jersey Shore Family Vacation actually ending? Or will there be a new Jersey Shore show? Keep reading for everything the cast told us.
Unfortunately, Jersey Shore Family Vacation is in the midst of airing its farewell season on MTV. While the show as we know it might be ending, the cast has teased more to come from them in the future. More on that below…
As of now, a new Jersey Shore show has not been confirmed. But, according to the cast, they are actively seeking a new home for their series. Whether that’s a continuation of Jersey Shore Family Vacation or an entirely new spinoff has yet to be announced. Cortese told DECIDER that they “just have to find a new home” for their show, noting that they are “gearing up to film, hopefully, a new season eventually, and find [themselves] parked somewhere else.”
As for where that could be, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino seemed to have answers he wasn’t yet willing to share. “I’m not sure we can confirm or deny such rumors, but we’re excited for the next chapter. I don’t think we can reveal who it’s going to be, but we know it’s going to be someone,” he said. Perhaps a jump to streaming a la The Kardashians?
Pivarnick, for her part, said, “We want to keep going until we’re old. Really old. I mean, we’re old, but we’re not old like that.”
So, Jersey Shore fans, you can rest easy knowing more is on the way.
The format of Jersey Shore Family Vacation seems to be the best formula for the cast’s current lives. It allows them to keep up the old share-house schtick, while also accommodating their family lives and careers. When they do inevitably return, it sounds like there will be a lot to cover.
“There’s so much going on. If they only knew, on this break, all the stuff that’s even gone on,” Sammi Giancola said, while Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi added, “So much is going on. We’re missing a lot.”
But what’s going on? Well, Polizzi recently opened up about her cervical cancer diagnosis, and is gearing up to undergo a hysterectomy. Giancola is navigating the early days of motherhood. Guadagnino is doing stand-up comedy and marathons. And after a concerning video of Ortiz-Magro nodding off mid-interview went viral, fans are itching for an update on his well-being. That, we bet, hardly even scratches the surface.
Those looking to watch Jersey Shore Family Vacation will need access to MTV and/or Paramount+. If you have a cable subscription, you can access the network on the MTV website, or stream the show live on platforms like Fubo, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV and Sling TV when it airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes also become available the next day on Paramount+.
Paramount+ offers two subscription plans, Essential and Premium. The ad-supported Essential plan costs $8.99/month, while the ad-free Premium plan (which comes with Showtime titles and live CBS) costs $13.99/month.
