Netflix’s new Hulk Hogan documentary is filled with a host of familiar faces. Featuring the last interview with Hogan before his death in July 2025, the four-episode series includes interviews with Hulk’s son Nick and ex-wife Linda, former wrestlers like his ex-NWO cohort Kevin Nash, legendary technician Bret Hart, and WWE’s current head of creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and Hogan’s longtime friend and sometimes manager, Jimmy “The Mouth of the South” Hart. But there’s one surprising name that you probably didn’t expect to be interviewed in Hulk Hogan: Real American: Donald Trump.

The president merely appearing in the documentary via archived footage wouldn’t be too surprising. Trump Plaza in Atlantic City was the venue for WrestleManias IV and V, and Trump, a member of the WWE Hall of Fame, was involved in the “Battle of the Billionaires” match at WrestleMania 23. But the POTUS granted production an interview from the White House, appearing in episodes two and four of the documentary.

The interview begins with Trump mentioning that he has a “big Russia meeting going on,” before revealing that Hulk personally asked him to take part in the project.

“Somehow, I became friendly with Hulk Hogan, the Hulkster, and he’s a good man. He’s just a nice guy,” Trump says in the second episode. “He asked me, ‘Would you do this interview?’ I said, ‘Why not?'”

The recent connection between Trump and Hogan — Hulk memorably endorsed the president during a fiery speech at the 2024 Republican National Convention — is covered in the final installment of the documentary, with Trump’s limited appearance in the second episode mostly centering on his early relationship with Hogan and his involvement in WrestleManias IV and V.

The president’s Episode 2 appearance concludes on an amusing note when Trump broaches the subject of Hulk’s famed “finger wag.” If you’re unfamiliar with the structure of a classic Hulk Hogan match, most of his ’80s and ’90s bouts (when Hulk wrestled as a babyface, aka the “good guy”) would end with the legendary grappler “Hulking Up.”

You knew you were nearing the climax of a Hogan match when Hulk would start no-selling his opponent’s offense, shaking his head frantically as he summoned the power of his Hulkamaniacs. Next, Hogan would respond to a punch thrown by his opponent with a bombastic finger wag, as if he were scolding the villain du jour for even attempting to lay a hand on the Hulkster. This was popularized in the ’80s and ’90s, but here’s a memorable example from Hogan’s nostalgia-fueled WrestleMania 18 bout against The Rock.

The finger wag was almost always followed by three punches, the big boot, and the famous leg drop. One. Two. Three. Cue Hulk’s iconic theme song “Real American.”

Okay, back to the doc. After Trump mentions Hulk’s finger wag, the interviewer asks the president for a demonstration. On one hand, this is kinda a crazy request. On the other hand, Trump once took a Stone Cold Stunner, so I guess flamboyantly wagging a finger isn’t explicitly off the table. Trump briefly considers imitating Hulk’s famous move before ultimately shutting it down.
