Wrestling legend Ric Flair revealed he is dealing with “health issues” after a rant over what appears to be a trademark squabble with his son, David.

The two-time WWE Hall of Famer uncorked three since-deleted social media posts, according to Fightful, focusing on what he deemed was the improper use of the Flair name, which he owns the trademark to. 

On Friday, Ric Flair appeared to threaten legal action against “someone “I’m very familiar with” using his trademark, noting that he is represented by a $1,000-per-hour attorney who makes a living suing people who “abuse” his trademark.

The 77-year-old confirmed Saturday that he was talking about his son David, but was not going to sue him.

The post was to remind him that he “can’t have the best of both worlds!”

The spat appears to be over Green Flair Recycling in Shelby, N.C. David’s LinkedIn page says he is a “Management Team Member” of the business.

Ric Flair did not specifically name the company in his posts, but did implore his son to use his real name, Fliehr, or his wife’s name, and not sell any of the robes he let him use during his WCW career.

“You’re 47 years old,” Ric Flair wrote. “Now stand on your own two feet please.” 

Ric Flair, the 16-time world champion, apologized for venting over the issue publicly, saying he is dealing with health issues.

“If you understood the health issues that I deal with and am currently dealing with, you would understand why I get frustrated in life with a lot of people,” he wrote in a post the including a picture of him outside a hospital. “I’m sorry for the frustration. I am taking time to focus on my health”.

He later posted a screenshot of his apparent heart rates that were elevated; the resting heart rate was shown to be 98 BPM.

Flair had a brush with death in 2017 after being put in a medically induced coma due to multiple organ failure.

David Flair had a run in WCW from 1998 to 2001, where his dad also worked.

He married Robin Haskell in 2006, and they have two children together.   

The two’s relationship seems to be a broken one.

In addition to his first post on Friday, Flair added that the relationship with the person using his trademark “was gone nine years ago” despite his attempts to ‘fix” things.

He claimed to be “rejected” because “your wife runs your life.” 

Ric Flair has been actively retired from wrestling since his last match in July 2022 and has made limited television appearances since signing with AEW in 2023. 

His daughter, Charlotte Flair, is a 14-time world champion in WWE.
