Kalen DeBoer has a new contract. 

The Crimson Tide head coach signed a seven-year contract extension with Alabama that brings his annual salary to $12.5 million.

The deal adds two seasons and $2 million annually to the contract DeBoer signed with the university a little over two years ago. 

DeBoer is now one of the top-five highest-paid college football coaches in the country, per On3, and is under contract with the school through the 2032 season. 

“My family and I would like to thank the Board of Trustees, Chancellor Trant, President Mohler, Director of Athletics Greg Byrne, our athletics administration and football staff, this community and the University for their continued support of Alabama Football,” DeBoer said in a statement.

“We are excited about the opportunity to continue our time in Tuscaloosa with this contract extension. This University has become a special place to us, and I look forward to working to ensure that Alabama football remains at the forefront of college football. This program has a long history of success and an unmatched tradition that I was eager to be a part of two years ago, and I cannot wait to keep coaching our guys and bring more championships to Alabama.”

DeBoer has spent the past two seasons in Tuscaloosa, going 20-8. 

Last season, the Crimson Tide went 11-4, beating the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff before falling to the eventual champion Indiana Hoosiers during the semifinal round. 

DeBoer, who took Washington to the national championship game in 2024 before taking the job at Alabama and replacing the legendary Nick Saban, was rumored to be in the mix for the Michigan head coach opening after Sherrone Moore’s sex-scandal firing late last year. 

He would shut down the Michigan rumors emphatically despite the supposed interest from the school. 

“I have not spoken and have no interest in speaking with anyone else about any other job,” DeBoer said in a statement in December. “I am fully committed to this program and look forward to continuing as the head football coach at the University of Alabama.”
