Watch out for sneaky clones

I am not complaining. I am not cranky. I am not — due to my marvelous God-given nature — even inherently bitchy.

However, I’m told that “Elsbeth,” a current Thursday CBS-TV show in its third season, involves a gossipy character seemingly based on me. Really very seemingly. Really. Seemingly.

Even Google mentions the comparison. But this is not my first go-round. Years back the Horsman Doll Co. created: The Cindy Doll. In my exact image — hair, eyes, lashes, wardrobe. I don’t know who bought it — well, me, I did.

This CBS-TV show’s lead character is a lawyer. The Cindy-type character a newspaper gossip columnist. It’s tea, chatting, sightings, celebrities, interviews, gossip, secrets, wardrobe, chauffeur, etc. Plus bits of information, glamour, trading dish, celebrities, parties, publicists, etc., serving wine or tea, fact-checking secrets, “tomorrow’s column ready,” etc.

These comments were to resemble sharp-tongued Cindy Adams. They are — not — the workshop tools of a plumber.

Associated stories compare this sharp-tongued columnist figure Cindy Adams, who often starts discussions on Facebook and other talk outlets about her being a media figure on real-life chat shows. It triggers gossip and discussions — and — thoughts that its based on veteran NY gossip columnist “Cindy Adams who trades on people’s secrets.”

I’ve received messages that compare this sharp-tongued columnist to NY Post columnist Cindy Adams, but I was in no way included in this production. Nor did anyone reach out in advance to clue me in.

A deeper probe brings up the TV show’s dossier on Cindy Adams — plus, what might seem to be — the inclusion of an old Times Magazine story on me. Why? Since I have nothing whatsoever to do with this production.

They clearly thought this was created as a savvy smart shtick and that reporters were obviously dumb enough not to have noticed.

Me, I noticed.

Another thing about CBS. I’ve phoned their recent news management hire Bari Weiss because I have an idea to share. Not for me. I’m not looking for a job. She did not return my call. I’m cranky about that, too.

Royally misbehaving

Andrew Lownie’s updated HarperCollins “Entitled” — on sale next week in paperback. Interviews with school friends, work colleagues, staff, diplomats, politicians — many speaking publicly for the first time.

Claims that Fergie had affair with sex offender Sean “Diddy” Combs and brought her daughters to his wild parties. Her staffers rarely lasting beyond Day 1, wages replaced with cigarettes, living off daughter Beatrice’s credit card.

Claims Prince Andrew has links to Russian organized crime. A staffer’s assessment of Andrew’s current state of mind and lack of remorse. And shocking treatment of even his own dog.

Just remember, a royal is the first to sign a loyalty oath — to himself.

Not in New York, kids, not in New York.
