Saddest canceled TV shows of 2026...so far
Nicole Gallucci · 2026-06-15 · via New York Post

Published June 15, 2026, 8:30 a.m. ET

We’re only halfway through 2026, but broadcast networks and streaming platforms have already announced a number of heartbreaking TV cancellations. And there are likely more to come…

Each year, major networks like ABC, CBS, The CW, FOX, and NBC, plus popular streamers like Apple TV, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Netflix, Paramount+, Peacock, and Prime Video, re-evaulate their slates, and as a result, the world has to say farewell to dozens of beloved shows.

Of this year’s canceled TV shows, Team Decider picked 12 casualties that shook us to our cores. Typically with canceled TV lists, I try to omit shows that receive final season renewals up front and thus, get to end the story on their own terms. But some majorly unexpected series fall into that bucket in 2026, so we made an exception.

From new and veteran broadcast series like Stumble and Brilliant Minds to streaming gems like The Lincoln Lawyer, here are Team Decider’s saddest TV cancellations of 2026 so far. Remember: If your favorite canceled series didn’t make our list, that’s not to say it doesn’t deserve another season! Let us know which shows you’ll miss the most down below.

  1. The Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix)

Mickey Haller smiling on 'The Lincoln Lawyer'

Netflix’s hit legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer — based on Michael Connelly’s popular book series — upped the ante in Season 4 when LA’s hottest defense attorney Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) took on his toughest, most emotional case yet. After Haller was accused of murdering his client, he and his team made a compelling case to fight for his life, freedom, and reputation. The season was another win, thanks to sharp writing and a charming cast. Garcia-Rulfo has become one of streaming’s smoothest, most reliable leading men. And talented supporting stars Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, and Jazz Raycole help Haller’s world feel incredibly lived in. Each season features a stacked lineup of guest stars, and with the addition of Cobie Smulders in Season 4’s finale and more books to draw from, I was ready to watch The Lincoln Lawyer ride for many more years to come. I have no doubt they’ll go out on a major high, but I still wish they didn’t have to yet! — Nicole Gallucci

  2. Palm Royale (Apple TV)

    Palm Royale S2

You would think Apple TV couldn’t possibly cancel a show with a cast stacked full of comedy legends, right? Well, Palm Royale was not safe from streamers’ egregious cancellations. The series lasted two seasons and told the story of Maxine Dellacorte (Kristin Wiig), a wannabe socialite in 1969 Palm Beach. However, Maxxine has some obstacles to face from the elites from Palm Beach as she tries to become a staple member of the pristine club, The Palm Royale. From creator Abe Sylvia, the short-lived comedy features a supporting cast that includes Allison Janney, Laura Dern, and icon Carol Burnett. Worst of all, the season 2 finale ends on several cliffhangers, and sets up a future where Maxine gets married to Robert (Ricky Martin) in order to have custody of his son, Rafael. However, the last scene suggests Rafael might not be Robert’s legitimate son, setting up an explosive season 3. There is no doubt Apple TV messed up! — Andrew Kilroy

  3. The Night Agent (Netflix)

Gabriel Basso on 'The Night Agent'

Netflix’s hit thriller The Night Agent dropped its highly-anticipated third season in February, and while it was sad to watch our favorite Night Agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) find his footing without Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), Season 3 felt like the show’s best yet! The wild, gripping, explosive ride kicked off with Peter tracking down Treasury Agent Jay Batra (Suraj Sharma) who fled to Istanbul with crucial government intel after allegedly killing his boss. As Peter soon learned, Jay didn’t kill his boss. He was simply trying to flag suspicious financial activity linked to a terror attack! And thus, another adrenaline-pumping adventure was born. The Night Agent was another original hit that Netflix decided to dump after its upcoming fourth season, and with so much potential left (and Rose and Peter still separated!!!) we wish the show wasn’t clocking out early! — Nicole Gallucci

  4. Brilliant Minds (NBC)

There’s nothing on television quite like the unique, thought-provoking Brilliant Minds, inspired by the life of famous neurologist Oliver Wolf Sacks. The medical drama starring Zachary Quinto as Dr. Oliver Wolf, Tamberla Perry, Teddy Sears, and a talented supporting cast tells meticulously crafted, inclusive stories that make dismissed patients feel heard and shines a spotlight on crucial cases. Over the course of its two seasons, Brilliant Minds welcomed brilliant guest stars including the late Eric Dane, who raised awareness of his own real-life ALS condition, and Love on the Spectrum‘s Connor Tomlinson in his acting debut. When I interviewed Brilliant Mind’s lovely showrunner Michael Grassi ahead of the show’s debut, he said, “My hope is that people come to the show and find themselves in it, whether it’s within patients or whether it’s within the doctors.” And they did indeed! I only wish we didn’t have to say goodbye so soon. — Nicole Gallucci

  5. Stumble (NBC)

    Stumble

While most comedies take a season (or more) to find their footing, it’s comedy shows like Stumble that raise the bar for finding the funny right out of the gate. In this canceled-too-soon comedy starring Jenn Lyon and Taran Killam, a dedicated cheer coach takes on a seemingly hopeless team to try and win a national title after being booted from her previous program by a snake in the grass. What ensues, however, is episode after episode of silly fun set in the fictional town of Heådltston — don’t ask us how to say it, no one really knows — as the team slowly moves from completely out of the conversation to potential contender to serious threat. While each episode is packed with humor, both smart and boldly unserious, it’s the heart in each episode that hits you right in the chest and makes you want more. This is a show that deserved a second season, especially after the Season 1 finale perfectly set it up. Stumble, we will avenge you! — Hope Sloop

  6. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (CBS)

    Stephen Colbert
    Photo: CBS

One of the more controversial cancellations of the past TV season — and one of most unnecessary, in my humble opinion — was the shocking announcement that CBS would be cutting the cord on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for purely financial reasons. While that may or may not be true (and the new people in charge of CBS seem to point toward that being a bit of a lie…), cancelling The Late Show ended a 33-year late night legacy that started in 1993 with David Letterman, before Colbert took the series over in 2015. In a time where late night as a whole seems to be struggling, losing one of the few voices left to help us make sense of the news of the day and the world at large in an entertaining (but still completely real) way is a massive blow. — Angela Tricarico

  7. Euphoria (HBO Max)

Yeah, I’ll say it: I’m sad Euphoria is over.

For eight whole weeks, our divided world came together to find out what shenanigans those crazy kids on Euphoria would get up to next. Many people scoff at Sam Levinson’s penchant for provocative storytelling, but I love it because it never fails to elicit a strong reaction. I don’t want to be bored on Sunday night. I want to be engaged. I want to be gasping over rattlesnakes slithering into subterranean coffins and shaking my head at Sydney Sweeney gamely satirizing her own public image. I want to fondly remember the sweet soul that was Angus Cloud and I want to be screaming on social media along with the rest of the world. I want to be entertained.

Euphoria is a show you couldn’t take your eyes off of — especially if you were hate-watching it. — Meghan O’Keefe

  8. The Bear (FX/Hulu)

I know many people are suffering from Bear fatigue, but when the show is at its best, it still manages to deliver a delectable small-screen experience that rivals the prestige show du jour. Is it time for The Bear to end? In my opinion… yes. I’m glad the show’s coming to an organic conclusion instead of force-feeding us a bitter sixth season. The final eight-episode season, which debuts on June 25, will hopefully provide a soothing digestif for fans (okay, okay, I’m 86ing the food puns) while offering closure for Carmy, Syd, Richie, and the rest of the gang. — Josh Sorokach

  9. The Neighborhood (CBS)

    The Neighborhood
    CBS

Many people believe the CBS sitcom The Neighborhood has run its course. The 8 season series has become a household favorite over the 8 years it was airing. However, it is sad to see such a diverse show leave the network. The Neighborhood follows the Johnson family, as they move from their small town in Michigan to a neighborhood that is a bit different than they’re used to. Their neighbors, the Butlers, have very strong opinions on the new people in town. The show tells a beautiful story of unlikely friendships and relevant societal themes in a fun and lighthearted way. With star-studded cast members like Max Greenfield, Cedric the Entertainer, Beth Behrs, and Tichina Arnold, it is no wonder the show got to 8 seasons, but it could have gotten more. Sitcoms can run for 10 plus seasons, and there is so much more that can be juiced from this cast. Watching friendships develop and strengthen. Relationships blossom and bloom. The Neighborhood is a show that could have gone on forever, and it will surely be missed. —Sydney Johnson

  10. Jersey Shore Family Vacation (Pluto TV)

    'Jersey Shore: Family Vacation'
    Photo: MTV / Paramount

Canceling Jersey Shore Family Vacation on MTV is like taking the Mona Lisa out of the Louvre. In 2018, six years after Jersey Shore had seemingly ended for good, MTV revived the franchise with the same beloved cast of partiers. Having traded bottle service for baby bottles, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, DJ Pauly D, Vinny Guadagnino, Sammi Giancola, Ronnie Ortiz Magro, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Deena Cortese, and Angelina Pivarnick spent nine seasons letting viewers follow their adult lives. Of course, it wouldn’t be Jersey Shore without some silly hijinks. Instead of spending their summers partying in Seaside and working at the Shore Store, this spinoff sent the iconic group on mini-vacations across the country, allowing for plenty of GTL, prank wars, and chaos along the way. With the cast eager to find Jersey Shore Family Vacation a new home for future seasons, MTV is clearly making a mistake by pulling the plug on a franchise that still has plenty of life left. — Samantha Nungesser

  11. The Way Home (Hallmark Channel)

    The Way Home S3
    Photo: Hallmark Channel

A time-travel drama in which several generations of a family have the power to swiftly pass through to specific points in history via jumping into a pond might seem far-fetched. In fact, it is far-fetched. But when that series is anchored by powerhouse performances from the likes of Chyler Leigh and Andie MacDowell, far-fetched can just so easily become a fan-favorite. The Way Home has captivated Hallmark Channel loyalists and viewers new to the network alike, as it channels music to not only evoke particular eras like the 1920s or 1970s, but also spotlight breakout stars like Sadie Laflamme-Snow. Fans remember where they were—or rather, in the spirit of the show, when they were—when Hallmark announced that Season 4 of The Way Home would be its last. But fortunately, the entire series (sans the finale, which airs on June 21) is available to stream on Hallmark+, with Season 4 set to eventually also hit Netflix. — Alex Vena

  12. Emily in Paris (Netflix)

Lily Collins as Emily in Season 5 of 'Emily in Paris'
    Photo: Giulia Parmigiani/Netflix

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: “To paraphrase the great Nicole Kidman in her iconic AMC ad: We come to this show…for magic. We come to Emily in Paris to laugh, to cry, to howl in the group chat. Because we need that, all of us — that indescribable feeling we get when Lily Collins appears on-screen in another ridiculously extra outfit. And we go to a Paris we’ve never been to before; not just entertained, but somehow reborn. Together. Dazzling delusions, on a small TV, laptop, or phone screen. Joie de vivre that I can feel. Somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this. Our heroes feel like the most chaotic part of us, and stories feel imperfect and imagined. Because here, they are. Darren Star. He makes ‘compulsively watchable TV.'” No one is arguing that Emily in Paris is prestige TV, but it’s a top-tier comfort watch. Coming up on Season 6, the show has lived a long, wonderful life. Some might say too long! But the series is a Netflix staple, and I, for one, will miss the reliable, stylish escape. — Nicole Gallucci
