Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions

This charge:

“The president has got himself and America stuck in the quagmire of another war in the Middle East.” — Rep. John Garamendi (D-Calif.), Wednesday

We say: Quagmire? The war’s just two months old, and there’s been no fighting at all for the past few weeks.

And remember: Within just days, Iran’s military was wiped out, its leadership devastated, its weapons-productions facilities destroyed — with no US boots on the ground.

Now, with the blockade in place, its economy is crashing. By contrast, wars in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan lasted years.

Nor is President Trump even remotely “stuck”; he could end the conflict tomorrow and boast a historic victory.

With comments like Garamendi’s, you’ve got to wonder: Whose side is he on?

Spot the difference:

“[Aaron Rodgers’ comments were] false, defamatory, wildly irresponsible and not funny. . . . What obligation does ESPN have to shut down [such remarks]?” — Jake Tapper, Jan. 3, 2024

vs.

“The Trump administration [sought] to use Saturday’s horrific act of violence to try to clamp down on [Jimmy Kimmel’s] criticism and free speech.  — Tapper, Monday

We say: When football star Aaron Rodgers kidded that Jimmy Kimmel might not want the Epstein files public, Tapper demanded ESPN shut down such comments.

But when Kimmel made a tasteless crack about first lady Melania Trump — that she glowed “like an expectant widow” — right before an assassination attempt on the president, Tapper raced to defend his best bud’s “free speech” rights. Could his hypocrisy be more blatant?

This whine:

“I Miss My Old Life” — Mahmoud Khalil, New York Magazine, Wednesday

We say: Khalil made life hell for Jews and others by leading a pro-Hamas protest that colonized Columbia’s campus.

Yet now he moans, with Team Trump seeking to deport him, he’s “a victim.”

Columbia won’t let him on campus; people sing “Am Yisrael Chai” (The People of Israel Live) when they see him.

Please: He’s lucky he’s still here. That New York Magazine saw fit to give him such play only shows how demented the left-wing media is.

This slap:

“If I was to speak to the king, I would probably encourage him to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond.” — Mayor Zohran Mamdani,  Wednesday

We say: Asked what he’d say to King Charles, whom he was to meet soon after, Mamdani couldn’t resist indulging his obsession with colonialism even at the expense of his official ceremonial duties as mayor.

As Nicole Gelinas wondered, “What the hell is wrong” with this guy?
