The second season of the CBS favorite Matlock concludes later tonight (April 23) with back-to-back episodes.
The season finale (“Who Are You?” and “Matty Matlock”) follows the team as they confront an unexpected final hurdle in bringing Senior to justice for his role in the Wellbrexa cover-up. The final installments of the season will also feature a mini Jane the Virgin reunion, with three former stars of the beloved CW series — Gina Rodriguez, Bridget Regan, and Justina Machado — appearing in guest-starring roles.
Matlock showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman also developed Jane the Virgin.
That’s the story on the Season 2 capper, but what about Season 3? Has Matlock been renewed for more episodes? When will Matlock Season 3 debut on CBS? Here’s everything you need to know.
What Time Is Matlock on Tonight (April 23)?
The second season of Matlock concludes with back-to-back episodes, airing from 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
How Many Episodes Are In Matlock Season 2?
The second season consists of 16 episodes.
Will There Be a Matlock Season 3?
Yes! The popular series has been renewed for a third season, but unfortunately, Season 3 won’t premiere until CBS’ midseason schedule debuts in 2027.
“I asked for it with the network. We had a talk,” showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman told TV Insider. “I just feel like we had so much stuff to think about because we really landed the plane on this, and we really thought that was important because we didn’t want to keep dragging out the same story, and the characters have to get to someplace real emotionally. So we really, when we took this two-hour finale and really paid a lot of things off, what came with that was I’m going to need time after that to really build the architecture so that we have it for the next seasons. I’m excited about it, but I am also grateful because we needed a little bit of time.”
