Angelina Jolie lists her iconic Los Angeles estate for $30M — as rumors swirl she’s set to quit US for good
Realtor.com · 2026-05-05 · via New York Post

Hollywood starlet Angelina Jolie has put her legendary Los Angeles estate on the market for $29.9 million — nearly two years after confessing that she wanted to leave the US for good and move abroad.

Jolie, 50, purchased the extraordinary dwelling, which was once home to iconic filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille, for $24.5 million in 2017, less than a year after she filed for divorce from fellow on-screen star Brad Pitt, and it has served as her primary residence ever since.

However, in August 2025, rumors began to swirl that she was preparing the property for sale, after she admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that she was hoping to leave Los Angeles as soon as the youngest of her six children turned 18.

She explained to the outlet in a 2024 interview that, per the terms of her divorce settlement with Pitt, which was only finalized that year, she was required to remain in California until all of their children reached the milestone age — but said that she hoped to spend “a lot of time in Cambodia” when she was free to relocate.

“I grew up in this town. I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she said at the time.

“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety. I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here. [After Los Angeles,] I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”

Now, just two months before Jolie’s youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, are due to celebrate their 18 birthdays, it appears the actress is starting to finalize her plans to leave L.A. by listing her six-bedroom, 10-bathroom estate, where she has lived with her kids since she and Pitt split.

As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, the property — which sits on nearly two acres of lush land — is listed with Jon Grauman of Resident Group and Ernie Carswell of Sotheby’s International Realty.

Jolie’s name is not mentioned in the listing, which went live on May 4; however, the property’s illustrious history features prominently in the description, which described the home as an “iconic compound.”

“The legendary Cecil B. DeMille estate is now discretely being offered, marking a once-in-a-generation opportunity to own a piece of Hollywood history — an iconic compound from which Hollywood’s future was shaped, and where Mr. DeMille helped define the industry as the entertainment capital of the world,” it reads.

“Originally conceived in 1913 by architect B. Cooper Corbett, the high-walled estate stands as a cornerstone of Hollywood’s architectural and cultural legacy. Acquired by Cecil B. DeMille in 1916, it quickly evolved into a sanctuary of cinematic innovation and social grandeur.”

The listing notes that the existing property was expanded by DeMille in 1920, when he acquired a neighboring abode that was once home to Charlie Chaplin — and then set about connecting the two dwellings “by way of a graceful glass corridor.”

“This union of artistry and vision transformed the property into a singular masterpiece, embodying the glamour and creative force of Hollywood’s Golden Age,” the description goes on.

While much is made of the home’s impressive Hollywood history, the listing features little to no information about the changes that Jolie has made to the dwelling since moving in nearly 10 years ago — and it features no interior images of the property, likely in a bid to protect the actress’s privacy.

Among the upscale amenities that are mentioned in the description are a fitness studio, a tea house, a guest house studio with its own living room, fireplace, and private gated entry, and a pool house, as well as a “separate garage with security station.”

“Perched at the highest point within the prestigious Laughlin Park enclave, the grounds command sweeping views of the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Observatory — adding further romance to this timeless legacy estate,” the description adds.

DeMille purchased the original property for just $27,893 in 1916 — and he lived at the estate until his death in 1959. Since then, the extraordinary compound has changed hands on just a few occasions, with records showing that it was sold for just $1.5 million in 1990 and remained with that same buyer for nearly 30 years before it was purchased by Jolie.

When the actress bought the property, it had just undergone an extensive six-year renovation, which included the grounds and the swimming pool.

“A newer classic old Hollywood style pool with arched fountains, surrounded by rolling lawns, specimen trees, rose gardens and dramatic views from the Observatory to Ocean sunsets,” the original listing description said.

Last year, Jolie opened up the property to loved ones who had been impacted by the 2025 California wildfires, with an unnamed source revealing at the time that she had been left “heartbroken for those who lost their homes” and was “doing everything she [could] to help.”

The actress later confirmed those reports, revealing in a video obtained by the Daily Mail: “Yeah, we’re having people at our house. Right now I’m taking care of people close to me and having them at my house.”

Jolie has not yet commented on the property’s listing — and it is unclear whether she plans to offload her other US dwellings ahead of her reported move abroad, although she has previously revealed that her apartment in New York City is currently being used as a “crash pad” by her children: Knox, Vivienne, Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, and Shiloh, 19.

In a March 2025 interview with the New York Times, the “Salt” star explained that one of her sons had taken up residence at the dwelling, but noted that it was routinely used by all of her children whenever they were in the city.

“The other day I said I was going to pop by, and he was like, can you just give me a day to clean?” she joked. “I thought, ‘I appreciate that, you should clean up for your mother. But also, how bad is it?'”

Jolie purchased that property when she was in her 20s, having sold another Manhattan dwelling for $2.8 million in 2004.

The actress also owns several properties in Cambodia, purchasing her first dwelling in the country soon after she adopted her son, Maddox, who was born in the country. She later noted that she hoped having a home in his home nation would help him to stay connected to his culture.

In 2019, she revealed a very rare glimpse inside the dwelling, when she shot a Guerlain commercial at the home.
