Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos rang in 30 years of marriage today, and after honoring their anniversary, they got to talking about tick prevention, of course.

Consuelos warned Live with Kelly and Mark viewers on Friday’s previously recorded episode that “tick bites are sending Americans to the ER at the highest rate in nearly a decade.”

After Consuelos highlighted the regions in the country with significant spikes, he listed off some of the diseases that ticks can carry, including Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

“Some can even trigger dangerous allergic reactions like the deadly Alpha-gal syndrome,” he read.

Ripa then teased a segment on tick prevention that would come later on in the episode. She also revealed that she was surprised by how difficult it can be to spot a tick after getting some intel ahead of the segment.

“I saw backstage what we’re supposed to look for, like what a tick looks like. I can’t see that,” she admitted. “I no longer have the visual capabilities to spot a tick anywhere. And, as a woman in my mid-fifties, my whole body feels like a tick is on it. Like, I am constantly feeling things that I’m like, ‘Is that a tick? I don’t know!'”

Consuelos spiced up the tick talk by teasing what a “tick check” is like for him and Ripa after 30 years as husband and wife.

“If we ever do go out and do a tick check, that’s like third base for us,” he quipped.

As the audience applauded, Live EP Michael Gelman joked from off camera, “Happy anniversary! Tick check!

Ripa agreed with a laugh, “That’s so true.”
