Fans of the Sheridan-verse know that the creator’s shows famously incorporate music and live performances, and the two-episode premiere of the new Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, proved the tradition of shining a spotlight on musical artists is alive and well.

Over the years, Sheridan shows have starred and welcomed a number of singers and musicians, from leads like Luke Grimes to bands like Shane Smith & The Saints and beyond.

Talented folks like Zach Bryan, Riley Green, Lainey Wilson, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Ryan Bingham, and more have also guest starred.

At the end of Episode 2, “Earn Another Day,” another country singer steals the spotlight during an intimate performance in a bar. So which country singer performs in Dutton Ranch Episode 2? And what song is sung at the end of the episode? We’ve got answers.

Who’s Singing At The End Of Dutton Ranch Episode 2? Meet Cassidy Daniels

With minutes left in Dutton Ranch Episode 2, Beth (Kelly Reilly) takes Rip (Cole Hauser) to the Split Heart Bar to meet Everett McKinney (Ed Harris). When the couple enters in Episode 2, a brunette woman wearing a long blue dress is singing on stage and playing guitar with the Texas flag behind her. After her performance she even calls McKinney up to the stage and plays guitar while he sings and Beth and Rip dance.

So who’s the singer? And what song was she singing? It’s Nashville-based Country singer/songwriter Cassidy Daniels performing a new original single titled, “Heart-Shaped Necklace.” You may recognize Daniels as a finalist on CBS’ The Road, the music competition series that’s executive produced by Sheridan.

In an interview with ProCountryMusic.com, Daniels explained her history with the Yellowstone-verse, saying, “Being a songwriter in Town, I’ve pitched a lot of songs to a lot of different places. There was a hot minute where my publishers were pitching a lot of my songs for Yellowstone. We met an amazing woman, who’s been a champion of mine since, named Andrea von Foerster. She’s the lead woman for putting music on Yellowstone. She came to me a few years ago about a show that she thought I’d be a great fit for. I said yes, but then the show went away for about a year. It came back around at the perfect time for me. Everything Taylor Sheridan (executive producer) touches turns to gold. No pun intended, but that show was tailor-made for me [laughs].” Her Dutton dreams are finally coming true!

“‘Heart Shaped Necklace’ isn’t about jewelry,” Daniels explained, per The Music Universe. “This song encapsulates the messy, breathless, butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of love, the kind that knows you down to your soul and sticks around anyway. I’ve always been the kind who would take wildflowers over diamonds. Depth matters most to me, not display. ‘Heart Shaped Necklace’ can pretty much be summed up by my favorite lyric: ‘I don’t need a real diamond just a solid heart.’ The writers, the producer, and I all aimed to draw sonic inspiration from classic southern rock elements to give it the necessary grit. I feel it is a song a lot of people will be able to relate to!”

The sign outside Dutton Ranch‘s Split Heart Bar makes it clear that live music is staple there, so it sounds like there’s lots of potential for Daniels to return and other artists to appear on the new series down the line!
