President Trump said he’s going to try to make his eldest son Don Jr.’s wedding to Bettina Anderson this weekend.
“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it,” the president told reporters in the Oval Office.
The couple is getting married on Saturday on a private island in the Bahamas, Page Six reported.
“This is not good timing for me,” the president said. “Everything called Iran and other things.”
Still, he admitted, “that’s one I can’t win on. If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed.”
“Hopefully they’re going to have a great marriage,” he added.
The couple had been eyeing a White House wedding but decided on a smaller affair because of the optics of holding a lavish event during troubled times, including the war with Iran.
“They’re very aware that a lavish wedding at the White House while people are dying wouldn’t be well-received,” an insider told Page Six.
Other sad news is clouding the sunny occasion.
Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Don Jr., revealed Wednesday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
“I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan.
“I would like to thank my doctors for performing a procedure earlier this week on me.”
She and Don Jr. were married from 2005 to 2018, and they share five children: 19-year-old Kai, 17-year-old Donald, 14-year-old Tristan, 13-year-old Spencer, and Chloe, 11. The exes are said to have a friendly relationship. Vanessa is dating golfer Tiger Woods.
Trump Jr., 48, and Anderson, 39, got engaged in December when he popped the question at Camp David.
The duo started dating in 2024, just as his engagement to former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle ended.
Anderson is a Palm Beach socialite and model. Her mother is Palm Beach philanthropist Inger Angerson, and her father is late banker Harry Loy Anderson Jr.
Her bridal shower – held at Mar-a-Lago in April – was attended by Ivanka Trump, Lara Trump, Tiffany Trump, and Marla Maples.
