A Maryland teenager is facing child neglect charges for allegedly leaving a 6-month-old baby home alone so she could meet friends at McDonald’s
Kira Faust, a 19-year-old daycare worker, was arrested on Monday after police were alerted to an infant left alone in her home in Aberdeen, according to a statement by the Aberdeen Police Department.
“Upon arrival, officers located the infant unattended in unsafe and unsanitary living conditions,” police said.

“With assistance from the Bel Air Police Department, officers located Faust, who stated she had left the child home alone while she went to meet friends at a McDonald’s in Bel Air,” police said of the fast-food restaurant around 10 miles from where the baby was left alone.
“Aberdeen Police took temporary custody of the child, and UM Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Aberdeen provided officers with essential baby supplies while Child Protective Services worked to secure a safe placement for the child,” the statement continued.
Faust was charged with child neglect and was later released on her own recognizance, according to police.
Police confirmed that Faust was the abandoned baby’s mom.
Faust most recently worked as a daycare teacher at Churchville Presbyterian Preschool and Daycare in Aberdeen, but left her employment a week before her arrest.
The preschool’s director confirmed to The Post that Faust was an employee between May 27, 2024, and May 11, 2026, not including her maternity leave.
