'Marshals' Episode 9 End Song: What Song Does Garrett Sing On 'Marshals?' Riley Green Breaks Down His Big Performance
mliss1578 · 2026-04-27 · via New York Post

Last week, Luke Grimes’ Yellowstone spin-off, Marshals, unexpectedly welcomed Garrett, a former SEAL brother of Kayce (Grimes) and Cal (Logan Marshall-Green), to Montana. And this week, Episode 9, “In Low Places,” saw the Marshals welcome Garrett (Riley Green) to the team to help save their teammate, Cruz (Ash Santos). And before end credits rolled on the eventful episode, the country star finally pulled out his guitar to perform an original song for Marshals characters and viewers.

After Garrett stepped in to assist the team, lent his invaluable recon skills to help rescue Cruz, addressed past traumas, and proved himself to Cal, he and the U.S. Marshals headed to Kayce’s house to enjoy each other’s company and celebrate the successful mission. Following some friendly pressure from his muse, Cruz, Garrett agreed to perform for the group, so long as they headed out underneath the stars and gathered around the bonfire.

So what song did Garrett sing on Marshals? What was Marshals Episode 9’s end song? And what did country singer Riley Green have to say about the performance in his recent interview with Decider? Read on for answers!

Who Plays Garrett on Marshals? Meet Riley Green

First things first: Who plays Garrett on Marshals? In case you missed it, Garrett on Marshals is played by country star Riley Green, a 37-year-old singer and songwriter from Jacksonville, Alabama. Since Green released his self-titled EP in 2018 he’s put out three albums: Different ‘Round Here (2019), Ain’t My Last Rodeo (2023), and Don’t Mind If I Do (2024). Marshals marked the singer’s acting debut, and in an interview with DECIDER Green shared that he was a huge fan of the Sheridan-verse and was inspired to act after watching Tim McGraw’s performance in the Yellowstone spinoff, 1883.

“I watched everything that was out, just like everybody else did. All [Sheridan’s] movies and TV shows have something special sprinkled on them. Seeing how good Tim McGraw was in 1883… that is probably what got me interested in acting. I’ve gotten to know Tim over the years,” Green told DECIDER. “In the past, I had it in my head that acting was something you were not born able to do. You had to go to drama and theater class in high school. You had to be in plays. I didn’t do any of that. I was playing three sports through school and did construction work. When I found out how Tim was able to learn how to act—and certainly learn well—it gave me an idea that maybe it was something I could try. He was one of my favorites on that show.”

Marshals Episode 8 End Song: What Song Does Garrett Sing On Marshals?

Right before Green made his Marshals debut, he released a new song titled “My Way,” which is the song he performed by the fire at the end of Episode 9. As Garrett sang the nostalgic, emotional lyrics about a former love, every member of the Marshals team was in their heads thinking about how the words related to their own lives. Following their kiss, there was palpable tension between Belle (Arielle Kebbel) and Cal, but Belle was likely also worried about Cal’s internal struggles, and Cal was likely worried about his mysterious medical prognosis. Meanwhile, as she recovered from her traumatic kidnapping, Cruz glanced at Kayce with gratitude and concern over the fact that he was so clearly processing his grief over losing Monica.

As the song helped set the mood and started to affect everyone, Kayce walked away from the fire and Andrea followed. She asked if he wanted to be alone, and when he said no, she stayed. He asked her if she made it through a door when she was back at the compound, as he had a feeling she was fighting and nearly escaped without anyone’s help earlier, and she confirmed his suspicions, saying, “Cowboy getting all cosmic on me.” As the two stood enjoying the comfort of each other’s presence, Kayce told Cruz she likely didn’t see stars like they did in the Montana sky back East, and though he was correct, she jokingly added, “Also don’t have people kidnapping me back East.” The two smiled, and while Cruz said the jury was still out on Montana, she assured Kayce, “As long as I’m here, I’m glad I’m on the team with you.” (!!!!)

In case that wasn’t confirmation enough that Marshals was building towards an eventual romance between the two teammates, after their conversation ended, Green/Garrett sang the lyrics, “If I had it my way, I would just lean in and kiss your lips right now” and the episode ended. I mean, COME ON!!!

“My Way” By Riley Green: The Country Star Breaks Down His Marshals Performance With Decider

Want to listen to “My Way,” the song Green sang in Marshals Episode 9? While we wait for the scene to be released, enjoy the artist’s official lyric video below.

As for filming the intimate performance, Green told Decider, “Filming that was probably more comfortable with that scene than any of the others because it was similar to filming a music video. I wasn’t initially going to perform on the show. However, when I found out that there was a spot in Garrett’s second episode where I could perform a song, I really tried to find something that fit. Lyrically, ‘My Way’ just made the most sense in light of what was going on in Garrett’s story. I was sitting there playing the song for 3 or 4 people, just like you would if you were at a campfire in real life. It was an organic performance that I think will come through in the next episode.”

As Green confirmed, Garrett is here to stay! At least for now. Before his Episode 9 performance, Garrett told Kayce, “What I miss is what you got here, a room full of teammates who’d do anything for each other.” When Kayce assured his pal he’d always be there for him, Garrett said, “That’s why I ain’t leaving, brother.” So tune in to Marshals next week to see more Garrett, and hopefully some more singing down the line!

New episodes of Marshals premiere Sundays on CBS.
