The Hurricanes swept the Senators out of the first round and were extremely stout defensively, but their offense never really hit its ceiling in that series. Yes, some depth players rose to the occasion to help secure the win, but they’ll need a little more from the top-end guys moving deeper into the postseason. Andrei Svechnikov is one of them. The 26-year-old winger scored 70 points in the regular season with 31 goals in 79 games, shooting 15.3%. He also saw plenty of volume, finishing third on the roster with 203 shots on goal in total. Well, Carolina hasn’t seen that version of him in the playoffs yet as he’s yet to record even a single point, much less a goal. It’s really surprising he hasn’t netted one yet since his 18 shots on goal are tied for the team lead in these playoffs,
There are five Carolina skaters listed in the anytime goal scorer market before you get to even the first Philadelphia player, which should tell you something about these teams. Still, it’s worth taking a flier on a Flyer, so look no further than Trevor Zegras. The former Anaheim Duck was traded to Philly this past offseason and produced 67 points with 26 goals, the latter stat of which ranked third on the team during the regular season. While not a high-volume shooter, he does finish pretty efficiently at 15.6% and plays on the first line, logging 18:43 of TOI per game. His postseason has been on the quieter side with four points and only one goal, only taking six shots over this span. That’s probably why he’s dropped to +330 in this market’s odds, but I like him to bounce back tonight as a great value pick for an anytime goal.
