Dahlin leads all defensemen this postseason in both shots on goal (33) and shot attempts (68). Buffalo’s captain has cleared 3+ SOG in all but two games this postseason, with both of those misses coming in the first round against Boston. Dahlin has averaged seven shot attempts per game in the second round thus far, and his consistent aggression on the power play makes this play feel like a steal. It is clear that the Sabres and Canadiens have a strong hatred for each other, which has resulted in plenty of power play opportunities for both sides. If that continues tonight in Game 4, Dahlin will be on the ice, chucking shots from the point.
The same goes for the opposite side of this Sabres vs. Canadiens series, as Hutson has shown aggression on the power play, ranking seventh in power-play shots on goal this postseason. The 22-year-old missed this mark in Game 3, with only one shot on goal, but he cleared in the first two games, while averaging 5.5 shot attempts per game. Buffalo has looked rather lost in the past two games of this series, leaving large areas of the ice unattended, which should lead to plenty of high-danger chances for Montreal. Hutson ranks third among defensemen this postseason in shot attempts (57).
Eichel leads all players in assists this postseason with 12, and he has totaled at least one in three of four games against the Ducks this series. Mitch Marner leads the Golden Knights in primary assists; however, a majority of his have come via the power play, and Eichel’s more consistent 5v5 play intrigued me more. This postseason, the 29-year-old leads all Vegas forwards in total ice time, and he is tied for the third-most 5v5 assists. He has recorded five assists at home thus far, and his presence on both the top line and power play makes this a value play.
