Ryan Wohl breaks down his best bet for tonight’s WBA Bantamweight title fight between Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez vs. Antonio Vargas.
One of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world, Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez is back to take on Antonio Vargas for the WBA Bantamweight Championship. Rodriguez is currently the WBC and WBO Super Flyweight Champion and enters this fight with an undefeated record of 23-0 with 16 knockouts. Vargas is 19-1-1 with 11 wins by knockout and is coming off a draw against Daigo Higa in July 2025.
Check out my pick for Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez vs. Antonio Vargas below.
Rodriguez beat Fernando Martinez by 10th-round knockout in November, which was his last fight. He is currently on an unbelievable run, winning five straight fights by knockout. Rodriguez’s last decision win was in April 2023. Right now, Rodriguez is ranked No. 9 on BoxRec’s pound-for-pound list.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Rodriguez is a -2500 favorite while Vargas is a +1100 underdog. This fight has an over/under of 6.5 rounds, with the under being -125 and the over being -110. Bam is -550 to win by KO/TKO/DQ.
Vargas’s previous victory came in December 2024 against Winston Guerrero. His lone career loss came against Jose Cardenas in May 2019, but since then he has gone on an 11-fight unbeaten streak. In this fight, Vargas is slightly taller (5’5.5″ vs. 5’4″), but Rodriguez has the reach advantage (67″ vs. 66″). Since Rodriguez is such a big favorite, I’m taking him to win in Rounds 7-12 at +185. Rodriguez has won four of his previous five fights in the final six rounds.
